Walter launches interchangeable plates Tiger•tec Silver ISO-K
When it comes to turning steels, Tiger•tec Silver has been the solution for some time. A material of high tech cutting power reserves ensure a tool life that far surpasses current cutting materials. Walter now offers the same technology of cut Tiger•tec Silver for turning of casting material.
The new generation ISO P Tiger•tec Silver ISO P interchangeable plates ensure high performance when it is lathing steels thanks to the combination of new cutting materials and the new chip breaker. In many cases, users benefit from a performance increase to 75%. This advance is based largely on a newly optimized microstructure of oxide of aluminium for the reduction of wear and tear. An additional mechanical post-treatment of the cutting edge guarantees tension of compression in the coating that counteract the micro-fisuras on the cutting edge. The new generation interchangeable plates for turning of grey cast iron (EN-GJL), ductile castings (in-GJS) and vermiculares castings (in-GJV) ISO K now also offer these advantages. The two degrees that Walter first offers are WKK10S (ISO K10) and WKK20S (ISO K20). Both available from the outset with the Universal MK5 chipbreaker; other grades and chipbreakers will follow. The particular feature of this MK5 chipbreaker is the combination of an open chip breaker and a stable edge protection. On the one hand, this ensures a soft, and on the other hand, cutting the plates also endure interrupted cuts, caps, and variations in hardness.
The grade WKK10S is the first choice for dry machining, its maximum resistance to wear and high cutting speeds and particularly suitable for continuous or mild cut interrupted cuts. As it is also possible to use the grade for turning of steels hardened cementation with between 40 to 61 HRC hardness, this offers us an interesting second application. WKK20S grade can be used universally, both dry and with refrigerant. Interrupted cuts, cross holes and caps are not a problem. A secondary application to highlight is the turning of steels for high resistance between 1,000 and 1,400 N/mm2. These steels require a cutting material with high resistance to compression.
The reliability of the processes is one of the key features of both grades. This is due to their excellent cutting properties are always available to users, for example, even changing the cutting conditions, which is frequent in the turning of foundries. In some cases, the pass, the hardness and the presence of quinine vary significantly. New interchangeable plates Tiger•tec Silver ISO K lathe effortlessly such situations and bring security to all production operations.
