Proto Labs Constituted in 1999 with the name of The ProtoMold Company. His founder was Larry Lukis, a big emprendedor and enthusiastic of the it. Larry had been previously cofounder of a successful company of 100.000.000 USD that had like aim design a better printer. To Larry surprised him the time and the money that were necessary to achieve pieces moldeadas by injection. Therefore, his answer was the development of a process automated of production of pieces moldeadas by injection that required only of a fraction of the term of time and of the cost that demanded the previous methods. With the mission to ‘reduce radically the necessary time for the manufacture of pieces of plastic prototype moldeadas by injection' and ‘convert the moldeo by injection of plastic in a practical option for products that do not require big quantities of pieces' clearly clear-cut, Protomold was launched and in operation.

Seeing that the base of customers increased quickly and that demanded more, decided to advance in technology to produce pieces bigger and more complex, entered the service of mechanised CNC of Firstcut, opened new headquarters of manufacture in Europe and Asia and changed the name of the company by the one of Proto Labs, to join the two services under this name.

In 2012, they decided that the company became public and this year turned into one of the public offers initials with more success.
