The Catalans recycled 221.500 tonnes of containers in 2011, 78% of the total

The Catalans are becoming more aware of the importance of recycling. Each citizen contributed an average of 15.25 kilograms of light packaging (plastic containers, cans and cartons) in the yellow container, 34% more than the national average. While the average of containers of paper and paperboard in the blue container was 23.7 kg per capita a year, 30 percent more than the Spanish average.
