SSI Schäfer Realises/Realizes the most important implementation in the history of the company Pistor AG

Because of the enormous growth of the company and his aim to stand out in all the sectors, Pistor quickly reached the limit of his capacity of performance. A big step to forward resulted indispensable and the company decided by the most important investment of his history: build a centre/center of distribution highly modern (‘WUZ West') having of a bridge that connects the new centre/center of distribution with the current warehouse.
Said extension meant a big challenge and required the knowledges and the experience of a competent partner. Therefore, the company Pistor again opted by the cooperation with SSI Schäfer that —acting in quality of general contractor in the field of logistics— assumed the responsibility for the whole of the project.

The aim on a long-term basis of the company Pistor AG is the ‘complete assortment'. By means of the new centre/center of distribution in Rothenburg near of Luzern (Switzerland), optimise/optimize the processes of preparation of requests, and with them the supply of commodity, in addition to attaining a reduction in the times of execution and the expenses. At the same time they create put of work highly ergonomic and already consider more extensions in a future. The complete integration of the warehouse of bultos small current without interrupting the daily operation had greater importance.

A very big challenge was the plan of realisation/realization very rigid, but also the big risk of investment because of the technical innovations in the project.

In only 2 years built a total volume that corresponds to some 300 houses unifamiliares in a surface of 6.700 square metres/meters. By means of the biggest crane of Switzerland put the transelevedores with a weight of 18 tonnes and a length of 24 metres/meters in his position in the warehouse, going in by the ceiling.

The biggest advantage of the construction definitely is the possibility to realise/realize future extensions of the warehouse without interrupting the daily operation.

Reception of commodities - inspection of commodities - storage – preparation of asked – consolidation of requests – put to disposal of the commodities for the transport to the customer – loads of the commodities to the truck – put of the commodities asked in roll containers to the correct position in the establishment of the customer. The realisation/realization of these processes seems easy, but to ensure continuous quality requires a highly sophisticated system.

The 8.000 different articles store automatically in the warehouse of big height always considering the frequency of demand of the articles. Afterwards they are put to disposal in the front of picking - the central element of the installation. Die to the big variety and the different sizes of the articles of the company Pistor, was necessary a system of picking especially flexible. Therefore, the warehouse of big height was designed of dynamic form so much for palets as to small containers and trays. Of course also they have considered the distinct requests of the assortment, for example the different sensitivities to temperatures of the commodity.

In the 8 tunnels of picking of the warehouse of big height prepare the commodities in roll containers according to the first ‘principle the articles of a lot of weight, afterwards the articles of little weight'. The system of management of warehouses Wamas calculates the requests and compares them with the planning of tours. Like this, it is possible to prepare in total 12 different requests of customers at the same time by vehicle of picking. The system of collected assisted (system of drawers) allows them to the employees work of ergonomic form. In such a way, it reaches a maximum performance of picking of more than 400 tonnes to the day.

Through a bridge, the necessary articles arrive almost simultaneously of the warehouse of bultos small to the area of consolidation After the empaquetamiento automatic by means of the flejadora, the commodities are transported to the expedition of commodities by means of the system of continuous transport. The storage according to sensitivity to temperatures no only applies in the warehouse, but also in the highly innovative trucks of Pistor. The 3 different zones of temperature in the truck allow the delivery of articles of several assortments, so many no perishable articles like perishable articles and frozen.

The big advantage of the solution implemented in Pistor is that Wamas manage all the systems of the installation from an only point. The system of management of warehouses (SGA) combines the management of the warehouse with the software of the operative processes, including the processing of requests, and with the planning of the distribution until the turnover.

Another novelty is the ‘function of breaks', that is to say in case of break of an article, Wamas goes back to schedule and prepare said article automatically.

In quality of general contractor, SSI Schäfer no only has supplied all the logistical installations, but also Wamas, the own system of management of warehouses and flow of materials, as well as the PLC. A special milestone of this project is the concept of innovative security that has installed for the first time. It has of a PLC of security that covers all the systems.

“In the crucial phase of the start had to prepare the requests so much in the already existent warehouse as in the new warehouse with two systems of management of warehouses at the same time. Said innovative technological implementation allows a continuous growth of the company Pistor AG and the extension of the assortment, but also provides an important competitive advantage, until being a key argument in available meetings with customers.

So already it considers another narrow cooperation and more extensions in a future. Richard Bertschaft on the plan: “The creation of the centre/center WUZ West for commodity stored to normal temperatures has been a first stage. They have scheduled already two stages more, focused in cool foods and frozen. The Group Thisa Gavias has consolidated like one of the pioneering companies in the distribution of materials of installation, heating and sanitary in Spain. The central warehouse in Alcalá de Henares has of some 12.500 articles and resupplies to 86 points of sale. To attain a perfect flow of commodities, the request for the planning and implementation of an efficient logistical solution was awarded to SSI Schäfer.

The project is synonymous of the sinergias inside the business group, that allowed to find the ideal solution for the customer. The Group Thisa Gavias bent initially by a miniload. However, an analysis of objective data realised/realized by SSI Schäfer launched that, in this case, the simplest solution and economic was the best. The result is a shelving of signposts of four flats and 9,86 m of height that optimises/optimizes the processes and excludes the frequent necks of bottle in the preparation of requests. At present, the 1.180 modules of shelving only contain some 5.000 articles. In this way, the solution offers sufficient capacities for the future and guarantees an improvement on a long-term basis of the efficiency of the warehouse.
