The sector winemaker Catalan, interested in exploiting the possibilities of the use of ozone

Between other lines of action, Ainia has coordinated the European project Ozonecip, awarded by the European Union in June as one of the 23 best environmental projects developed in Europe. This project has shown that the use of ozone in cleaning and disinfection in the subsectors wine operations, brewery and dairy saves 50 per cent of water and a reduction by half of the organic pollution of dumping of the washing of deposits generated by cleaning and disinfection operations. These results are of great importance, since more than 80% of the water consumed in the industries and almost 100% of industrial waste water generated in cleaning and disinfection operations.
Winemaker sector, especially the Catalan, is striving to much the reduction of water consumption and its challenge is to advance the respect for the environment and sustainability, which is why an important to contemplate opportunity arises here. So was evident on July 14, the day that ainia was co-hosting in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), which was attended by companies like Reccared, Can Suriol, Parés Baltà, Gramona, Albet i Noya, Eudald Massana, Torres and Freixenet. He attended also Incavi, Institut Català the Vinya i Vi, on Catalan in the sector.
The presentation of the day was provided by Serveis Urbans del Penedès, company specialized in ecological cleaning. Oxicom, Madrid supplier of equipment for ozone, and Innovi, cluster of winemaking companies also participated. By Ainia, Albert Canut, an expert in this kind of technologies in ainia technology centre, was in charge of explaining to those present the potential of the ozone in the operations of cleaning and disinfection of winemaking industries.
