Ainia is developing active packaging for fresh vegetables

The objective is expected of this project is the improvement of the packaging of fresh plant foods, through the application of natural extracts with ability to antimicrobial and/or antioxidant in the packaging system, to extend the useful life of products and increase food security. On the other hand, it is intended that this type of containers are designed to be used in conventional production lines.
This work has the support of the Impiva and ERDF funds and is part of the programme of aid for r & d to the technological institutes. It is intended to assist the companies in the food industry through projects aimed at providing solutions to the needs identified for improving the quality of food products and the packaging technology.
