“All have experienced some time the frustration of not being able to manage an almost inaccessible package, like the containers of plastic sealed and the products tied with tens of abrazaderas”, affirms Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon. “We have worked so much with the manufacturers as with the customers to design the Package abrefácil of Amazon, that is simple to open, protects the product and reduces the waste. Today, more than 2.000 manufacturers participate in this project”, adds Bezos.
Launched in 2008 with 19 products, this initiative has gone winning participants, happening of 4 to more than 2.000 manufacturers all over the world, between which find Fisher-Price, Mattel, Belkin, Victorinox Swiss Army, Logitech and many more. To date, Amazon has sent more than 75 million products with this system to more than 175 countries. The Package abrefácil of Amazon also reduces the waste generated. Until the moment, this system has saved more than 5,4 million square metres of cardboard, avoided the generation of more than 12,3 tonnes of waste and reduced the size of the boxes in more than 410.000 cubic metres.
The customers of Amazon have helped to design the program with his qualifications and comments on the packaging of the products. These councils have allowed to promote cientos of improvements in the packed every year.
