Citoliva is participating in a European project that will offer solutions of valorisation of by-products in food industry

Citoliva He will participate in the European project of innovation Provalue: 'Promotion and capitalization of solutions of waste in the food industry of the Sudoe', funded by the Interreg IVB Sudoe programme to respond to the needs of energy and nutritional evaluation of food waste in the Sudoe territory, that it will help enhance the competitiveness of the entire agri-food sector and boost the development of the bio-economy of the European area. For this reason, this project extends the technical scope of the project Value - approved in the previous call Sudoe and framed in the sector of processed vegetables-highly representative of this European subsectors, generating a significant volume of by-products: processed vegetables (including wine and oil), processed meat and processed fish. Intends to facilitate specific solutions applicable and viable waste to all of the agri-food business Sudoe and create a critical mass of innovation in the European area in this technical field that allows you to continue to develop more effective solutions.
As a result, companies can identify the solution's recovery most appropriate for each type of waste subject to study and evaluate the costs of implementation of this solution, thereby reinforcing their competitiveness and capacity for innovation; and reduce the environmental impact.
The project, which held its launch meeting 17 and 18 July in Derio (Vizcaya), is led by the technological centre Azti-Tecnalia and count with the participation of European partners from Spain, France and Portugal. Representing Spain, participate together with Citoliva, the Spanish Federation of industries of food and beverage (FIAB), the National Center of renewable energies (Cener), the Association for research and development of the agro-food industry (Aidia), and the University of Lleida (UDL). There will be an approximate budget of 1 million euros, which will vary depending on the release of ERDF funds.
The expertise of Citoliva in the sector of olive and oil and its wide experience in the transfer of knowledge to this sector and to society in general will be key in this project for the creation and implementation underway in territory Sudoe an international recovery technologies 'pole of excellence', that will integrate the main agents (University groups, technological centres and companies) that develop and implement technological solutions for the recovery of food waste. This network aims to pool knowledge and promote projects in cooperation with a perspective in the medium and long term, in the context of the European strategy of promotion of the bio-economy.
