Pacte Industrial held its IX General Council

The Association of the Pacte Industrial of the metropolitan region held its IX General Council, where he took the opportunity to present SIMAE, the new technology platform that backbone information of Pacte concerning economic activities within the territory in mid-July. Its main objective is to create new synergies between companies within the metropolitan area.

The presentation was given by Didac tab, Vice President of the Commonwealth of municipalities of the metropolitan area of Barcelona (AMB), and Maravillas Rojo, President of the Executive Committee of the Pacte. Also intervened Marc Balaguer, now coordinator manager of the Pacte Industrial, Eva Granados, of the Commission on mobility, and Maria Buhigas, who presented the first results of the analysis of the Industrial Atlas in the metropolitan region, a study review on the map of economic activities in the metropolitan area.

At the opening of the Council, tab emphasized that, if until now Barcelona was the Centre of economic activity in Catalonia, this is a situation that is changing, with new areas on the rise that compete and a very saturated zone. To do this, the metropolitan area of Barcelona search in Europe what model further, noting the solutions made by other large European economic concentrations to modernize, move forward and offer greater competitiveness.
For this purpose, have joined Pacte both companies such as administrations, universities, trade unions, employers, etc., a very large amount of interest in the search for the best solutions for all the needs of the industry.

SIMAE is based on the idea that in an economy based on knowledge, it is necessary to put that knowledge to the scope of the business, making available to the different productive sectors the economic reality of the territory.
It has a simple structure that identifies both the territorial and sectoral level, resources and actors involved in different areas:

• training: with information on the vocational training centres, centres of university education as well as its range of programmes.
• innovation: reports on innovation centres, projects and researchers.
• economic activity: classified according to different indicators such as technology, index level of sectoral specialization, number of employees, etc.
• industrial land: offers information above the total of available soil and the percent of land occupied and free and includes up-to-date information on ships and industrial land offers.
• estates: on existing sites and services.
• maps: allows to visualize the territory with the location of municipalities, major roads, etc.
• services of proximity: performs a search of the polygons that have in the vicinity of the services previously selected to submit the query (metro, railway, port, airport, etc.).
• How to go: shows the shortest path between a municipality and an industrial estate.

In addition, the platform offers access to maps that allow to locate resources within the territory.

Since the Pacte is SIMAE as a tool of great value in the development of the industry, increasing the potential of enterprises and facilitating collaboration with centres of research and development. It also facilitates the better location of new enterprises, identifying the key factors for investment. Also, Marc Balaguer commented also the usefulness of the SIMAE for municipalities, which serves as support to the territorial planning and provides a deep knowledge of the economic reality of the area, both as supramunicipal municipality, also promoting the collaboration between municipalities.

What is the Pacte Industrial?

The Pacte Industrial of the metropolitan region of Barcelona is a territorial association, formed by local governments, trade unions, business organizations and a set of entities and agencies relating to economic development and the promotion of the occupation.
The Association, born at the end of 1997, is the result of the initiative of the strategic Metropolitan Plan (formerly Plan strategic Barcelona 2000) with the intention of grouping, in the same space, the main social partners involved in the economic dynamics of the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
