Ina Fag bearings in the wheelchairs of the Forum of cultures

The CIM Center has developed an innovative system to facilitate the mobility of disabled people, incorporating a system of gears of mechanical drive in wheelchairs. This system, called "Conrad-Cim" used by the users of wheelchairs who visit the Forum of cultures, incorporate a sophisticated system of bearings of the company Ina Fag that allows that, a ramp or a small drop, can be overcome easilyincreasing autonomy, freedom and quality of life of the people who use wheelchairs.

The innovative principle of operation of the system is as follows: the rings that drive the hands are not "hooked" to tires, if not through a few radios they connected to a gear in the area of the axis of the wheelwhere a selector changes the gear to convenience. The user, when he sees a rise, because you're a lever located next to the brake of the Chair and then the wheels moving more slowly than with rings powered by hand. Thus a sense of rest is felt at the start of the ascent, just like a cyclist when he switches to small and large pinion.

In this project, the CIM Center has received the sponsorship and collaboration of pioneering companies: Abertis has sponsored the work of the entities that have developed the pre-production of sixty chairs with the gearbox. The following companies participated in the design and production carried out by the CIM Center also: Lifante vehicles, wheelchair manufacturer; Natan, manufacturer of systems of shifts and Ina Fag, manufacturer of high-performance bearings, helping to establish best rolling equipment in order to ensure the safety in the operation, simplifying the design, and contributing to limit the cost.
