A study finds weaknesses as a result of delays in the production process
The optimization of production processes, a priority for one of every two SMEs
According to a study by Infor: Business Solutions, multinational German specialized in ERP solutions for the small and medium industrial enterprises, the production processes of industrial SMEs are still a high margin of improvement. Examination, based on autovaloraciones of the companies themselves, reveals that nearly two-thirds of the companies surveyed believe that they currently use less than 85 per cent of its productive capacity available. One of every three companies this installment of efficiency is even considerably lower this figure. Only 17 percent of companies believe that their production processes can be optimized slightly.
The main reasons of this situation, according to the data collected in more than 400 companies examined, are a scarce control of the costs and the delays produced in the processes of production. Besides, there is an important lack of integration between the processes of production and the processes of the business, the gestión of resources has a lot of weaknesses and the flexibility of the control of the production no adecua to the real needs of the companies. Added to this, a high level of errors in the production and an imprecise programming contribute to the bad utilisation of the resources in more than the 50 % of the cases studied. The optimisation of the processes of production, therefore, has happened to occupy the High “priorities” or "Very high" in the current plans of business of 53% of the companies consulted.
"The main cause to use insufficiently the productive capacity is the lack of integration of the processes of the business and the processes of production", comments the professor Joachim Hertel, President of the Council of Infor: AG. "Like consequence that the control of manufacture can not have access to up to date data and changes of ultima hour of the planning produces all a series of interruptions in the production, unemployed, problems in the planning, defective product, defects of quality and a high consumption of material.
