Fagor Automation collaborates in the development of the ecomotor Lotus Range extend

In the latest edition of the Geneva Motor Show, was presented the first prototype of eco-motor Lotus Range extended. The solution, which integrates a combustion engine and an electric generator, has been specifically designed for applications of electric vehicle of extended autonomy and is extremely compact, light and competitive. His major contribution is that it allows recharging up the batteries of any electric vehicle equipped with the Extended Range, and thus expand their autonomy.

fagor automation is developing the part of the generator and the regulation of the same. Both elements make the mechanical energy of the combustion engine electric power with the appropriate characteristics to power the battery and the traction of the vehicle. In addition to generator, this part does of starter motor in such a way that minimizes the number of elements in the system.

The new ecomotor Lotus Range extend allows recharging up the batteries of any electric vehicle equipped with the Extended Range, and thus expand their autonomy.

For their development, Fagor Automation is applying its experience on electrical machines and power gained worldwide industrial electronics. The design, as well as being reliable and robust, has special specifications of the car. For example, the weight and volume are particularly critical so it has made an effort to reduce them to the fullest, drawing on solutions as the liquid-cooled generator and power electronics. Another highlight is the safety of operation, for which the future ISO standards of safety of the electric car in the process of adoption are taken into account.
