fagor automation reaches an all-time high in export sales, approaching the level of the 70 million invoiced before the crisis. The company, in addition, proceed in 2011 new projects in the commercial, industrial, innovative and international fields. The actions will move from the launch of new products until the creation of technology for the electric vehicle and making investments in its plant in Mondragón and Usurbil.
Fagor Automation faces the year 2011 with the only question arising from the weakness of the European internal market. The company, has thus joined projects supported by the Basque Government, the Ministry of industry and European institutions. The most recent, an Etorgai, will allow them to diversify into the electric vehicle. The research will take place between 2010 and 2012 along with Mondragon Automocion, Ecenarro, Fagor Ederlan and Cegasa. Fagor Automation work will focus on the creation of an electric machine and a loader that will use the power of a positive-ignition engine to charge the battery and extend the range of operation of the vehicles above 300 km.
Moreover, in the field of the machine tool, participates in two projects to optimize the processes of machining in large machines: the pump Zenith, alongside Ibarmia, Correa, Juaristi and Ona; and European Chameleon, together with Soraluce and Goialde. And you undertake a project Innpacto-Fore with the Complutense University of Madrid to create angular encoders of large dimensions, up to 2 meters, which will facilitate the positioning of large machines or scientific facilities. Finally, those responsible for the company have designed a plan of investment amounting to EUR 3 million for 2011. The funds will be allocated to strengthen the capacity of machining of engine in Usurbil with the incorporation of boring machines; and to improve the finishes and details on the floor of Arrasate with the automation of work that will require, among other equipment, the installation of a special line of coatings, automatic dispensers and robots.
