Wittmann Battenfeld: 'simply the best', in K. 2010 (injectors)
September 10, 2010
The Wittmann group will be present at the 2010 K with two large stands. Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH machines will be displayed in Hall 16, stand D22, while robots and peripheral equipment of Wittmann Robot Systeme GmbH you may see in Pavilion 10, stand A04. The following are exposed innovations of the group, in its Division of injectors.
The new series Power, Simply the Best
Under the motto 'Simply The Best' (simply the best), Wittmann Battenfeld will be presenting their latest products to the public in general in Düsseldorf, focusing especially on the new series Power. The Powers series is a new complete range of products, which is divided into three groups, the EcoPower encompassing the fully electric machines, the MicroPower or micromoldeo for injection machines and the MacroPower which are larger machines. In the K, all of them will work being fed through a system of centralized transport of Wittmann.
The new generation of the Power series products offer high accuracy, compact design, maximum ease of use, modular concept and high energy efficiency. The common concept in all machines is a complete solution according to the principle of "all from the same supplier". Numerous peripheral devices and robots are integrated in a compact manner and work through a single system of control.
Another common feature in all machines is the control system Unilog B6, which offers a concept of command and uniform operation to facilitate the handling of moulding machines injection, including all peripheral equipment. The system of control, which operates under Windows XP, greatly facilitates the integration of machines in systems type PDA, but particularly in Internet-based support systems. Internet service and systems of remote service, as well as the Battenfeld K4 of Wille production data acquisition system, are also available on all machines.
MicroPower: accurate, efficient and flexible
MicroPower smaller series of machines of the new Power series, with forces of closure between 5 and 15 tons, is a machine model of fully electric injection for molding by injection of high-precision and the micromoldeo.
In this new generation of machines, the section of the injection is of special interest. This innovative unit of injection of two steps, which consists of a spindle and a piston, a volume of injection of 0.05 to 3 cm³, injected thermally homogeneous casting, to obtain as a result of first quality pieces, from an absolutely stable production with short cycle times. With this technology, Wittmann Battenfeld has a unique feature compared with the standard machinery that has simply adapted to the micromoldeo by conventional injection.
The modular system of machines, is composed of a basic platform which can be extended according to the needs of the client, with a turntable, removal of pieces, monitoring of quality and a module of clean room, which can be extended to create a complete production cell.
At the K 2010, the functionality of the MicroPower will demonstrate through two examples:
One of them will be a MicroPower 15/3 equipped to become a production cell complete, which will show the production of a micro connector with a volume of only 0,0035 cm³ piece. The shells of the connector will be manufactured with a cast of two cavities in a cycle time of 3.8 seconds. Below will be extracted by a Wittmann W8VS2 robot with a maximum handling weight of 2 kg, then move the camera integrated in the production cell and the control of the machine system in order to undergo a quality inspection. Finally, the pieces will be separated according to cavities and stacked in a stacking module.
The second example will show a standard implementation of high precision with a less than 3 seconds cycle time.
EcoPower: it compact, clean, efficient and practical
EcoPower, fully electric machine of the series Power, will be presented at the K 2010 in a variety of different versions with forces of closure from 55 to 240 tons. The EcoPower has a compact injection unit and a unit of closing extremely precise with a highly effective direct drive. The energy of braking of the drives, is realimentada to the network of electricity supply through an elaborate process, is used entirely within the machine to provide the voltage needed to control system and the heating of cylinder. This makes these machines extremely efficient in energy terms. The injection unit is designed for speeds of injection of up to 400 mm/s.
Another advantage of the EcoPower is its design that facilitates operations for the user. In the development of this series of machines was special emphasis in the necessary space and the compact integration. Temperature control of Wittmann, of the Tempro series devices plus C can be integrated directly in the structure of the machine, which implies a considerable reduction of space and the costs of the same.
An additional innovation for users, prepared by Wittmann Battenfeld, is the inclusion of a servo system hydraulic watertight in series to the ejector, the cores and the chariot of injection. This system offers a very special advantage for all those clients working with molds that include hydraulic cores.
Among others, the EcoPower series will be presented at the K with the following applications:
In cooperation with the Centre of plastic Germany of the South (SKZ), headquartered in Würzburg, an integrated online in a 240/750 EcoPower termógrafo will be displayed. The finished parts, components made of ABS, will be supported in front of a thermal camera by Wittmann robot W821. The robot is equipped with a rotating axis, of form that you can take a 'thermal footprint' (thermal image) of the component from five angles. The thermal images are analyzed and used one hand to the documentation of the quality assurance, and on the other hand, the values are used for the regulation of the temperature of the mold. Once made thermal pictures, the robot moves pieces to the labeling station laser.
In one EcoPower 110/350, a device of gripper (Board in T 20 x 3/4 "x 20") of the Finnish manufacturer of tools Tooler, IFW group, will be made of PP in a cycle time of 27 seconds. The draft of the thread is made using servo motors that are activated directly through the system of control of the machine. Thus avoiding the need to incorporate an additional control system to activate the servo drives. The pieces will be extracted and placed on a conveyor belt by a telescopic W823 Wittmann robot.
A 180/750 EcoPower will produce a technological component for medicine, for a device of dialysis, with a rim FX 50, with a mould 4 cavities provided by Braunform GmbH (Germany), in PP and a cycle time of 20 seconds. To enable the production under clean room conditions, the machine is equipped with a module of flow laminar Petek (Germany) over the side of closure. The pieces will be removed from the mold with a robot Wittmann W8XH series horizontal SCARA type and transferred to a station of clean room in the rear of the machine.
In an EcoPower 55/130, the PIM (powder injection) ' Powder Injection Molding' process will be displayed. The PIM process serves to produce parts metallic or ceramic injection moulding technology. In a 2 cavity mould provided by Wittner (Austria) be manufactured a support for pens using as base 316 L material in a cycle time of 35 seconds.
MacroPower - modular, accurate, compact and productive
With the MacroPower Wittmann Battenfeld has marked its return to the manufacture of large machines. After the 800 MacroPower - shown for the first time during the 'Competence Days' of the Group Wittmann - will be presented a MacroPower with a force of tightening of 1000 tonnes in the "K" in Düsseldorf.
MacroPower means less possible space, speed, modularity, high precision and cleanliness. The modular design of this new model of large machine makes it especially suitable for a wide variety of applications. The rails of the mobile plate system ensures a clean molding space and greater precision in the protection of the molds. The MacroPower reaches its high speeds through rapid movements and times of blockade and generation of high minimum pressure, achieved by an innovative system of blocking recently developed by Wittmann Battenfeld.
A special feature of this new generation of machines is the ease with which the molds are inserted from the rear of the machine. A longest passing through the security protection on the back, combined with columns especially short, thanks to the blockade that has been integrated into the mobile plate, allow the inclusion of large moulds, in most cases, without the need of a device for extraction of the column.
The MacroPower functionality will be demonstrated at the K 2010 in Düsseldorf through an example of the packaging industry. Be manufactured a folding box of PP in a cycle time of 35 seconds in a MacroPower 1000/8800 with a mould provided by Haiflmair (Austria). The pieces will be extracted by Wittmann robot W843, mounted to an Assembly station, to finally be folded and stacked.
