Eco-design, measurement and magnetism in the machine tool industry
May 14, 2010
For presentation, Tekniker has opted for a spectacular staging: a huge human head from which emerge different lines of specialization that culminate with the presentation of some capacities for implementation of the Centre at the end of each one of them. The Assembly is intended to simulate the contribution of the technological centre in its work on the transfer of knowledge and technology, which focuses on applications in different sectors addressing the specific needs of its customers with innovative technological developments.
Advances in measurement
Given its expertise in automation of processes of inspection and measuring, Tekniker-IK4 presents a quality inspection robot for the automotive sector in three dimensions. 3D Vision brings major advantages over the conventional 2D view, to add a new spatial dimension. Among the more common to get technologies images that allow calculations in the space are the laser triangulation, the stereoscopic vision or the calibration based on known patterns.
This measurement in 3D technology allows the verification without contact of 100% of the production offering the customer a greater guarantee of quality, higher speed and lower costs in the process and in the rejection of parts.
It is a sample of how knowledge of Tekniker-IK4 non destructive and robotics, inspection that is can specify both this technology and measurement through ultrasound, multi-spectral vision, rays X or otherallowing respond with cutting edge technology to sectors such as automotive, agri-food industry, or recycling. Also, its applications in the industrial world are varied, being mainly related to the inspection and robotics. Other typical applications presented are the determination of the way and extent in 3D, applications of 'bin-picking', determination of distances to objects, etc.
In the field of research, the 3D vision plays an important role as support on the navigation system for autonomous robotics. The calculation of distances between the robot and the environment that surrounds him is essential in this type of system.
Photogrammetry
Other developments Tekniker-IK4 presented related to the measurement is an integrable module with commercial systems of Photogrammetry to allow, on the basis of images and references information provided by them, the position of circular and elliptic geometric entities of direct 3D, without having to use physical or planned targets.
It is a specific solution, based primarily on the resolution of a problem of geometry of intersections of do CPAs, and complementary with capabilities integrated in the current commercial systems for measuring, fully automatic and high processing speed, the position in the space of an unlimited number of holes, regardless of its diameter and depth.
A digital photogrammetry of precision system can be considered a portable coordinate measuring machine. In this case a system unicámara non-contact that captures and measures the 3D position of the set targets has been used on the directed of interest. The calculation of the position of the targets is automatic and allows to visualize and quantify the quality of decision-making points.
In addition to the capabilities of the trading system, referred to in the preceding paragraph, the system developed by Tekniker, can carry out measures without the use of targets, with the benefits that this entails.
The applications of this technology are varied, from the wind and solar sector until the aircraft, because that brings great complementarity, high-speed measurement and low uncertainties.
Rejoining the 'green' concept in machine tools
Tekniker-IK4 committed to eco-design as a factor that can impact significantly on the machine tool sector. Eibar Technology Center seeks to demonstrate that the introduction of the 'green' concept in the sector brings to companies a significant energy savings, much lower costs of maintenance, design and process, as well as a better quality, a boost to innovationcompliance with increasingly strict legislation and an environmental commitment leading to a better image of the company.
To raise awareness and raise awareness about the benefits of eco-design, as well as to explain in detail their impact on a company in the sector, the technology centre shall make available to the visitors of the BIEMH an original interactive game: a contest of questions and answers about the ecodesign which will include a competition and the distribution of awards.
Intended to thus stir consciences and to publicize the concrete benefits that obtained a company in the sector when it incorporated the ecodesign to its activity of very informative and practical way: reduction of energy consumption, reduction of noise and vibrationdecrease of the weight and the size of the equipment, use of new less polluting materials or new more efficient lubricants and with less environmental impact.
Tekniker-IK4 bet on Ecodesign in the machine tool is part of the line of work that develops the Eibar Centre in the field of ecology and environmental sustainability, through which carries out ecological developments in different areas of specialization. This allows you to apply sustainable technology to a multitude of sectors such as automotive and transport, but also the energy and industrial production.
Magnetism, or the attraction in the metal
The specialization of Tekniker-IK4 in magnetism is displayed with a double sample: a kinetic energy accumulator called the Flywheel and a head that works by magnetic levitation without contact with the rest of the machine.
The aim is to stage how the technological specialization impact horizontally in different market sectors, energy and machine tool, in this case.
Tekniker-IK4 wanted to carry the BIEMH a specific application for the machine tool related to magnetism. The magnetic head shown, whose levitation completely avoids any direct contact with the rest of the machine offers very interesting results in this sector: a rate of 72,000 revolutions per minute, a better performance than conventional headsets, better opportunities to monitor the processas well as improved reliability, lower maintenance, readiness and a marked improvement in the life cycle of the component.
For these reasons, Tekniker-IK4 believes that the introduction of the latest developments in magnetism can incorporate important advantages to the machine tool sector.
