Aimplas develops pipes and biodegradable plastic drippers
February 27, 2009
Hydrus, with a duration of 36 months, is part of the subprogramme capacities — research for the benefit of SMEs and has a budget that will amount to more than 1.4 million euros. Its aim is to solve the major problem arising from the use of micro-irrigación pipes, especially in season crops: its collection and disposal at the end of his life useful, very expensive and that, not take place, has a considerable environmental impact.
For this reason, we will investigate the development of pipelines and drippers for micro-irrigación plastic made from materials from renewable and biodegradable sources with thermal and mechanical properties improved, comparable to the traditional products from plastics from petroleum-based. The Hydrus project, pipes and drippers made these sustainable materials will keep their functional properties throughout his life, biodegradándose after use without having to collect them, and can be mashed in situ, with the consequent economic benefits and without any environmental impact.
