Aimplas Develops new technologies of recycled to obtain plastics of greater value and with more applications

The Technological Institute of the plastic (Aimplas) works in a project that will make possible to obtain new processes of recycled and improve the existent, to increase the percentage of plastic post consumption aprovechable and to increase the number of applications of the materials recycled. Thanks to this, no only will be reducing the environingingmental impact of the industry of the plastic, but also they will reduce the costs of production of the companies that substitute the virgin plastic by plastic recycled of greater quality that the obtained up to now.

Descontapol Is a project cofinanciado through the Ivace by the Bottoms Feder, inside the Operative Program Feder of the Comunitat Valencian 2007-2013. His main aim is to delete drastically critical substances contained in the plastics recycled that up to now they limited his application. It is the case of the smells, or of elements that affect to his physical properties like the resistance. Besides, it allows to delete other substances that up to now did not disappear during the process of recycled, and that were limited by the legislation in the case of plastics in contact with foods.

Through the project Descontapol will be possible to delete substances and smells that up to now prevented the aprovechamiento of the plastic recycled for some applications.

The investigations carried out in Aimplas at present pretend to modify the current processes of recycled and develop new auxiliary processes that allow to obtain material and products of a greater value added so much technical like medioambientalmente. Of this form will achieve expand the markets to which directs at present the production of plastics recycled to industries like the one of the container, the automotive sector, the agriculture or the electrical sector- electronic. But also it will reduce the percentage of plastic that finishes in the dump and no valoriza, and will reduce the cost of production of those goods that manufacture with plastic recycled in place of with virgin matter.

The Valencian Community is a region of big importance for the sector of the plastic recycled. Specifically, it agglutinates to 20% of this industry to national level, and in the case of the transformative companies this supposes a total of 14.400 employments. The companies recicladoras, that at present work to 67% of his capacity, will be ones of the big benefited by the industrial implantation of the project Descontapol, since an elder aprovechamiento of the plastic post consumption will suppose for them elevate until reaching figures of 70% the aprovechamiento of his capacity of production and an increase of his near income to the two million annual euros. Besides, when treating of a product of greater quality and with more applications, the price by kilo also will increase, what will suppose a profit of roughly one million annual euros.

On the other hand, in the transformative companies, the replacement of virgin material by recycled supposes a saving in raw materials from among 20% and 40%, what in the case of the Valencian production has estimated that supposes a saving of costs of roughly three million euros to the year. This supposes to improve the accounts of the Valencian industry of the plastic recycled in six million annual euros.
