The Technological Institute of the plastic Aimplas and Aimme (Technological Institute Metalmecánico) finish to complete successfully the project Galvaplast, that has consisted in the utilisation of the nanotechnology in the processes of metalización by electrodeposición galvanic of plastic materials to improve to superficial level the conductive properties of these, by means of his formulation with load of nanotubos of carbon.
The pieces realised with these new formulations will allow the reduction of steps and stages of metallised, favouring the saving of costs and the minimisation of the waste generated. Incidentally, it has observed an improvement in the properties conductivas of the plastic basic system/metallic coating.
The project, finalised in December, has developed during two years. In the first anualidad llevar the studies of research and preliminary selection of the thermoplastic matrices more suitable as well as the formulation of loads and additives to improve the properties after the galvanic deposition. They have formulated compounds aditivados in base polipropileno (PP) and in basic polycarbonate (PC)+ABS of which realised his mechanical characterisation.
With this task evaluated initially the influence that the addition of the nanotubos of carbon could have in the mechanical behaviour of the materials selected. In this second year has continued with the reformulation and optimisation of the thermoplastic compounds from the results of the preliminary proofs realised by Aimme with the bathrooms of galvanic deposition. Of this crossing of results between both centres have identified those thermoplastic formulations that favour the properties conductivas and of apantallamiento EMI, main aim of the project.
Through this project has pretended take advantage of the synergies and knowledge of Aimplas in the field of the thermoplastic compounds and of Aimme in the methods of metalización, to ensure the achievement of the planned results.

This project has been cofinanciado by the Bottoms Feder, inside the Operative Program Feder of the Comunitat Valencian 2007-2013, thanks to the Program of projects in Collaboration in R&D promoted by the Institute of the Small and Average Industry of the Generalitat Valencian (Impiva).
