“Inside Aragon can be proud of our industry”
Interview to Noelia Sanz, manager of AERA, Clúster aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing of Aragon
Like representative of a clúster aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing, can say me how many companies form part of him and the volume of turnover that represent?
At present are 21 associated. It is difficult to give a figure of turnover since the majority of the partners work for several sectors and only have of aggregated data, no sectorial.

It can comment us some project in which they work or have worked Aragonese companies?
The main market for the companies of the clúster is the national market and European, by what the greater percentage of turnover has like final customer to Airbus, although it is truth that in a lot of cases do not supply directly but through the Tier1 or Tier2. This does that the programs in which now we have greater load of work are the Airbus 380, the 350 and the To400M. Nevertheless in the last years are beginning to work for another type of customers as they can be manufacturers of motors and other OEM (Embraer, …).
There is a lot of piece ‘made in Aragon' in the aircraft?
Inside the clúster are working in three units of different business: manufacture of tooling and structure (so much in metal as in compound); engineering; and wired up. We can say that to day of today the first of them is the one who more weight has in Aragon since we have several companies with big tradition in this sector as well as with two plants of production of the greater Tier1 in Spain. Besides we have companies very very positioned in services, like engineering or metrology.
Can define us a bit this industry in the region?
The aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing industry no only refers to the manufacture of pieces for aircraft but englobaría all the chain of value, from the engineering and manufacture of toolings to the operation and maintenance of aircraft, going through the manufacture of pieces, wired up, etc. For example, is installing in Teruel a company of devoted to the maintenance, storage and recycled of aircraft.
If we centre us in the part that manufacture could say that the companies of Aragon are mostly focused to the metallic manufacture by the long tradition of car sector that have in the region.
In evento like the meetings of outsourcing, what thinks that look for the tractor trucks companies in them?
The main ‘requirement' that sue the buyers in this sector is quality, are looking for companies that are able to supply with the standard heights of quality that sues the sector and that they are competitive.
In his opinion, which requirements has to fulfil a SME so that a ‘big ‘' of the aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing bet by her?
As I already have commented the main requirement is the quality. As already sucedió previously in other sectors, the aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing sector is in a process of restructuring of his chain of supply in which the big manufacturers only pretend to work with some Tier1 and are these Tier1 or even the Tier2 those that present an opportunity for the SMEs that attend to these meetings.

It thinks that the Spanish auxiliary industry is very prepared to realise pieces for the aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing?
Fortunately yes. In the last years has bet a lot by the R&D and this does that the Spanish companies offer to the markets products with a lot of value added. A clear example is that we have positioned us like country of reference in manufacture of compound materials.
And which is the degree of competitiveness of the companies that conform AERA?
Inside Aragon can be proud of our industry. The high degree of industrialisation of the region and the long car tradition with standard heights of quality have allowed that the companies that have diversified to the aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing sector as well as those that were established in the sector are very competitive.

Often the size of the companies subcontracted is a problem because it costs them invest or assume risks. The tractor trucks companies of AERA find with situations of this type?
That is a reality to which confront all the SMEs and one of the reasons by which consolidated the clúster. The work like such allows us can offer big packages of work or projects key in hand, forming UTE between the different company that can tackle each demand of our customers.
