Alimentaria Castilla y León 2011, shows reference in the sector of the wine and meat in Spain

Meat and wine, with a turnover of close to 3 billion euros per year in Castilla y León, is presented in this new edition of food with the power that represent their productions at Spain. Two sectors that are linked to the force of the territory of the community and which are configured by a strong primary sector. Castile and León, Spain is the first producer of beef and sheepmeat and pigmeat third. Stresses in the processing of the meat product production of Iberian representing 60% of national production and that occupies a prominent place the D.O. Guijuelo. The wines of the region are based on an area of vineyards of over 75,000 hectares of which 86% are linked to figures of quality wines.

In 2011 food meet a total of 209 companies from 13 autonomous communities. Castile and Leon is the community with the largest number of exhibitors, with a total of 136 - 116 correspond to industries and 20 in figures of quality.

The Ministry of agriculture and livestock will be present at this important and consolidated fair of the agri-food sector with an institutional stand which will promote the brand 'Land of taste' as it teaches to distinguish the excellence of the food of Castile and León, Spain. The presence of the yellow heart is not just in this space, because of the companies in the region present at the fair, 67% - a total of 78 industries-are assigned to 'Land of taste'. In addition, the stand will be given to know the products covered by a designation of quality recognised by the European Union and the winners of the latest editions of the 'Zarcillo Awards' and 'Cincho', the most important of the wine and cheese-making industry competitions that are held in the region. A few awards that have been consolidated as the international competitions.
