The QuickSwitch line installed at Wavin is headed by a double KMD 90-36/R extruder spindle, a head pipe QuickSwitch KM-RK 23 QS and a gauge QuickSwitch KM-KK 160 QS.
Wavin uses this line to produce compact PVC pressure pipe, pipe without pressure and pipe of gas pipe. The line set to Wavin has incorporated an ultrasonic meter for wall thickness and a thermal centre at the head of the pipe. The QuickSwitch line is equipped to manufacture pipes with a system of acampanamiento, prerequisite for the pipe of pressure.
Possibilities for savings

The new extrusion machines of double spindle 36 D with a single area of Krauss Maffei Berstorff degassing, are designed to process formulations for PVC pipe more effectively. The new concept of spindle (geometry of high performance HPG) offers numerous customer benefits.
Eliminating the atmospheric degassing in this range of parallel double screw extrusion machines, KraussMaffei Berstorff engineers have been able to use the entire length 36 l/D of the processing unit for optimum PVC resin a plasticizing and homogenization. This new design of extruder in conjunction with the concept of spindle HPG optimized, offers significant advantages.
The effective length of the preheating zone provides greater flexibility for processing a wide range of formulas, getting a yield of up to 10% higher than with the extrusion machines of double degassing.
An area of increased dosage is a more stable process, thanks to the improvement of the capacity to create pressure and optimal control of temperature of mixture in the entire output.
Finally, the area of mixture along with optimized geometry of this area produces a more homogeneous mixture and an exceptional optical quality of pipe. Improves at the same time the dispersion of the additives and the blowing agent in the mix.
The new concept of spindle HPG significantly reduces fluctuations in the process of manufacture for tubes with heavily loaded.
