Unimetrik, an overview of the Metrology
In the actuality, Unimetrik participates in two important projects of European R&D (inside the V Program Mark of the EU) and is member founder of the Foundation Innovalia, a project that took form in the year 2000 as a result of a long collaboration with companies related with the measurement. The projects in which it participates Unimetrik, together with pertaining entities to Innovalia and other European entities, are EasyTrack (that has by aim an improvement of the trazabilidad based in machines of measurement) and MTCheck (about calibration and verification of machines-tool).
According to Gerardo Catalina, Unimetrik incició his activities to finals of 1997 with the idea to give a service in an area - the metrology - that suffered from in this period of infrastructures and services. For this "sand took advantage of distinct existent synergies between diverse organisms and companies like the Technological Centre LEIA, the group Gamesa and other companies that now form part of Innovalia".
The success of this philosophy has translated in concrete figures: of 30 MPtas (180.300 ) of turnover and four employees of the starts has happened in the short lapse of four years, to some 140 MPtas (840.000) and a staff of 17 people; to this adds some own installations of 600 m2. In the actuality, Unimetrik loans services of metrology in the areas of the automotive sector and aeronautical sector component manufacturing sector component manufacturing to companies like Gamesa, Inta, Hewlett Packard, Fasa Renault,... Mercedes Benz in Germany or Caterpillar in U.S.. In this appearance, Unimetrik is able to offer services in systems of verification and control of quality according to the norms TS16949, ISO 9000, ISO 10012 and QS 9000 among others.
This capacity of service is based in the continuous learning of the personnel, in an effort for applying the innovation to the metrology and in a philosophy of collaboration and participation that also applies to the Foundation Innovalia, of which forms part. To the basic services of metrology join projects of R&D and an active participation in international organisms.
Incorporation of the manager of the PTB
In this regard it fits to say that Unimetrik was, until does very little, the only Spanish member of the committee ISO TC 213 (Committee of metrology ISO in three-dimensional machines) and like such organised in May happened a meeting of this committee in Vitoria. Also it forms part of the committee AENOR CTN 82/SC2 and in the actuality is in process of accreditation ENAC (IN 4500). This international opening effort has to in good measure to the integration inside the team of Unimetrik like manager of the Department of Metrology advanced of the doctor Eugen Trapet - ancient responsible of the Department of Metrology of the centre metrológico national German PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt).
In words of Gerardo Catalina, during the last years the metrology has experienced an evolution of concept in the breast of the companies, "what in a principle was an imposición to fulfil the norms ISO now is already a need: the companies have darse# cuenta that the implantation of politics of quality redunda in profits for the companies".
On the evolution of the metrology like technology, Catalina stands out like "obvious" the integration between CAD and measurement, whereas it supposes an acceleration of all the process. In his opinion, the metrology and, in concrete, the computer programs of measurement, are not still sufficiently mature as to generate his own standards, what hampers in occasions this process. An example of this is the evolution of the DMIS, that has evolved in systems often incompatible between himself.
Another line of evolution is the measurement in the line of production: "there is a worry in approaching the processes of measurement to the manufacture" affirms Gerardo Catalina. However, the fact that often the metrology need of areas controlled is a reason of weight to think that coexistirá the control of plant with the control metrológico (and the calibration) properly said.
On this base built this foundation, that has the aim to take advantage of resources and synergies between the companies that form it. This project obtained the past year the support of the Government vVasco, that considered it like a strategic project.

- Datapixel: Specialised in vision and solutions of imgn digital for the industry, hygiene, scientific and multimedia market
- CBT: it Offers global services of communication to companies (from advertising to 3D, from video digital to management of intranets)
- Nextel: telematic Engineering
- SQS: Company of services specialised in the aseguramiento of the quality in the surroundings of complex applications of software and verification of critical systems
- Trimek: skilled Company in the construction of systems and equipment devoted to the dimensional control.
- Unmetrik Is a company of services metrológicos oriented to offer solutions for the relative industry to the calibration, measurement and engineering metrológica.

Services of Unimetrik
- Calibration of Instrumentation (dimensional, temperature, mass,....) And the Service of the Integral Management of Calibration. In the area of calibration is about to obtain the accreditation ENAC in base to the norm ISO 17025
- Calibrations of machines tool with correction of parameters
- Services of measurement of pieces with the most advanced computer programs and the following machines: machine Timek of capacity for big dimensions (scope of 11 m in the axis x); machine Zeiss of very high precision - of lower Uncertainty to 1 m/m and scope of 2,5 m; machine Werth for measurement by optical systems; machine LK of measurement for geometrical elements and by comparison with CAD
