The urban buses hybrids of MAN begin to show his energetic efficiency

MAN Truck & Bus has circulating by Spain a total of five urban hybrids, one in San Sebastián, another in Valladolid and two more in the outskirts of Barcelona, operated by Baixbus, a fifth delivered to Tusgsal and other 10 awarded to be delivered this same year to TMB. All they, MAN Lion's City Hybrid, correspond to the model CONTRIVE 2 of the manufacturer, vehicle of series.

The first in arriving to the streets was the one of San Sebastián. Eduardo González, boss of Workshops of Dbus, and Gerardo Lertxundi, manager of the municipal company, ensure that “the hybrid circulates from June of 2011 by the lines of Dbus. The preferential lines in which it circulates were previously identified in the phase of proof like the most suitable, regarding traced, orography and commercial speed, obtaining the best initial results of consumption”.

And the first results indicate that “so much in the initial proofs as in the actuality in service, the behaviour of the hybrid bus and his consumption compare directly with a vehicle diesel of similar provision in the same conditions of work. Until the moment, the hybrid bus of MAN has showed a considerable saving of fuel, that has gone improving from the initial prototype until the vehicle of series at present in circulation. Already we can speak of figures of saving of fuel strengthened around 30% of average regarding the vehicle of comparison, even with greater savings if it fits in the lines that better adapt to this technology”.
