Nissan Begins in Barcelona the production of his second vehicle 100% electrical

Nissan has begun the production of his second vehicle 100% electrical -the and-NV200-, that will be available as much as light commercial vehicle like vehicle of passengers. The ceremony has had the presence of the president of the Government of Catalonia, Artur But, to the one who has given the welcome the executive vice-president of Nissan Engine Limited, Andy Palmer.

The plant of Nissan in Barcelona will be the only that will produce this pioneering vehicle of zero broadcasts, that will be available like light commercial vehicle, like vehicle of passengers and like electrical taxi.

The production of this new electrical van has meant an investment of 100 million euros in the plant of Barcelona (that they form part of a total investment of 431 million euros in the industrial operations of Nissan in Spain) that, initially, will export the new and-NV200 to 20 markets of all the world, included Japan. The same that happened with the introduction of the Nissan Leaf, the number of markets will grow after the launching, like part of the strategy of company in the zero broadcasts.

The executive vice-president of Nissan Engine Limited, Andy Palmer, has ensured that “today it is a historical day for Nissan, with the start of production of our second electrical vehicle; whereas our rivals still are just launching his first electrical vehicle. We are very proud that the Nissan Leaf was the electrical vehicle more sold of the world, with more than 110.000 satisfied customers that enjoy of calm and silent travel with his electrical car”.

Barcelona will be the first city of the world in entering the and-NV200 like taxi 100% electrical. An initiative that according to Palmer is vital for the city: “this and-NV200 has renewed the importance of the record levels of atmospheric pollution to which have arrived London and Paris. Achieve that an important number of vehicles of zero broadcasts circulate by the streets of Barcelona will ensure a clean air for all his inhabitants, his visitors and tourists, and are convinced that this vision of future of the city council will be reproduced everywhere to carry these profits to his cities in the next years”.

For the mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, the start of the production of the new electrical van, and the collaboration between Nissan and Barcelona “forms part of a strategy of city and of metropolitan field, to consolidate Barcelona like epicentre of a new model of urban economy based in the innovation, the technology and the sustainability. In our city are doing a firm bet in strategic sectors of future, and the electrical vehicle is one of the most stood out. Today we are doing things to generate wealth for the city, strengthening the economic and industrial fabrics, and doing a very important step for the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens”.

The adviser general director and the vice-president of the Industrial Operations of Nissan in Spain, Frank Torres, has underlined that “Barcelona has the honour to be the plant that produces the second vehicle 100% electrical of Nissan. This is because of our long history but also to the good work done each day. This will be the first time that produce a vehicle in Spain and export it to Japan -our market of origin- and this is a fantastic milestone and a fact of the that are very proud”.

Barcelona is the only plant of the world that produces the electrical version of the and-NV200. This means that it will export to all the world, included Japan -a very demanding market-. In June will begin the export to this Asian country.
