B & R technology will monitor the Barcelona synchrotron laboratory

The project covers 8,200 signals, between inputs and outputs, digital, analogue and temperature measurement. Distributed in 150 islands that communicate between them by X2X fieldbus. These are controlled by 55 automata of the range Standard CPU, which they perform the function of hub and communicate with the system of Control of Alba, via Ethernet Modbus.
The reasons why (b) technology has been chosen & R has been the PC architecture of automata, the full integration of the communication, programming, putting in place and the diagnosis that offers the software development of B & RAutomation Studio, the technological level of products, offered support and finally the modularity and flexibility of input and output, X 20 modules.
The management of the project will be carried out by the company Logitek, which will act as project manager. Logitek is a company dedicated to the marketing of equipment for industrial automation with 29 years of experience in the sector.
Synchrotron: a project with their own light
On 8 March 2002, the Council of Ministers of the Spanish Government gave green light to the project for the synchrotron of the Vallès, an initiative promoted by the Professor of the Department of Physics of the UAB, Ramon Pascual. In their design works, for more than ten years, the Synchrotron Light laboratory, linked to the Institute of high energy physics, of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The installation, a large particle accelerator in a ring of about 250 meters in perimeter, will allow the study of the microscopic properties of the materials, with great importance for research, both basic and applied, and with applications in biomedical research and in industrial sectors in the pharmaceutical fieldfood or cosmetic, to name just a few examples.
The synchrotron of the Valles is located in an area close to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, on grounds of the Parque Tecnológico del Vallès.
