Atlas Copco will build a new factory of compressors in India

The multinational Atlas copco has decided to build a new plant for the manufacture of compressors near Pune, India, to the strong expected increased demand in the coming years. The investment of approximately MSEK 160 would also serve to expand the supply of products to customers in the country.
Atlas Copco (India) Limited signed a contract in April for the acquisition of land near Pune, where the construction of the new plant will begin this year. The plant will be completed in the second half of 2012. In these new facilities will manufacture stationary industrial compressors and portable compressors, while current Atlas Copco plant in the area of Pune will be devoted to the production of oil free compressors and large oil injection.
"India economic development prospects are very good, and now presents an excellent opportunity to considerably increase the production capacity in this country with a modern and efficient logistics," says Stephan Kuhn, President of the business area Atlas Copco Comprimida energy techniques.
Atlas Copco, which has approximately 1,800 employees in India, currently manufactures equipment of compressed air in the plant in Pune, while construction and mining products are manufactured in Nasik and Hyderabad. The Group also has engineering centers in Pune and Bangalore to support the development of products in India and the rest of the world.
