The illusion of a political spring Arab, the opening expectations of the Moroccan market to the excedentes comunitarios of cereals and dairy products and the Moroccan pressesure, have been determinantes so that the European Parliament voted in favour to ratify the Agreement between the EU and Morocco, with 369 votes in favour, 225 against and 31 abstentions, last step so that said agreement went in in force. The ratification causes a big desolation in the sector hortofrutícola because the consequences will aggravate the loss of employment and the crisis in Spain.
Stops FEPEX, the European Parliament has not taken into account the grave consequences that the current agreement already has in the zones of Spanish production. Only in the sector of tomato and in the last year, the agreement in force has caused the destruction of 12.500 employments in autonomous communities like Andalucia, Canaries, Valencia or Murcia, with taxles of upper unemployment to 30%. And this situation will extrapolate to other productions hortofrutícolas and to other communities, since the new agreement foresees the liberalisation of the trade of practically all the fruit and vegetables with Morocco. The europarlamentarios have not taken into account the productive differences, environingingmental and the abysmal differences in the costs salariales existent between Morocco and the EU and demands that it compete in equality of conditions.
The European Parliament, and previously the European Commission and the Council that signed the agreement in December of 2010, neither have taken into account the reiterated incumplimientos of the protocol in force by part of Morocco, incumplimientos confirmed by the Office of Fight Against the Fraud of the EU (OLAF), and that have not been object of any performance by part of the European Commission.
