This week's cold temperatures cause losses in Valencian agriculture

This latest wave of cold which is whipping the region of Valencia is in addition Frost that occurred at the end of the month of December, as he valued then AVA-Asaja, 30% of the citrus fruit harvest left useless and resulted in a loss of 146 million eurosof which 142 corresponded to the cultivation of citrus fruits. This new episode starring the sharp fall in temperatures could have affected 20% of the Valencia citrus production which suffered no damage in the Frost in December.
In addition, Aguado added that "must await the evolution of the trees in the next few days, but if the wood has suffered much damage we do not rule out calling a meeting with the Administration to study the possibility to set up extraordinary aid".
Frost has also punished harshly to vegetables that were in production, mainly to the artichoke, but also to lettuce and cauliflowers. The almond trees which had started the stage of flowering were affected by the cold in a negative way.
