Increase in exports of paper and slight increase of internal consumption

In 2010, the start of the recovery of the domestic consumption of paper, which grew by 4.1 per cent, and the pull of exports increased 9%, has resulted in an increase in the production of paper from 9.1 per cent. According to data presented by Aspapel (National Association of manufacturers of pulp, paper and cardboard), cellulose production grew by 7.3 per cent. As for exports, half of the Spanish production of paper and cellulose is sold, primarily, to Germany, France, Holland, United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal and Poland.
Types of roles, the greatest growth in production are on paper for packaging, with a 16.6% on paper for corrugated cardboard, and growth of 9.2% in the coated cardboard. The roles of hygienic and sanitary uses increase production 2.5%. And, between the major groups, are only kept in negative numbers in the graphic papers, with a decrease in the production of 2.7%, mainly due to the behaviour of the paper press.
The production of paper and paperboard in Europe grew 8.4%, reaching a total of 93.710.000 tonnes in 2010. Spain (9.1%) is slightly more than half a point higher than the average. Major producers such as Sweden, France, Norway and Italy are below the European average of growth. The highest growth recorded Portugal, followed by Finland and Germany.
