It is the moment to centre in reducing the unseen costs in the company
During all 2012, the recession and the unemployment continued marking the economic situation in Europe. In this context, the companies have come encouraging for keeping the maximum competitiveness diversifying strategies of communication and operations. The organisations already have reduced and simplified costs and processes, but have to follow doing it in front of an economic stage still difficult. Therefore, now it is the moment to centre in the unseen costs that, although less obvious, can report an important saving.
The ‘Business User Attitudes Behaviour Study for Epson' (Study on Behaviours and Attitudes of the Users of printers), commissioned to the independent quality consultancy Coleman Parkes, concludes that the use ineficiente of printers in the office costs to the small and medium enterprises of the main European countries 113 million euros to the year. 9% of what prints wastes , already was because it prints and afterwards does not collect or because the impressesion is wrong and it is necessary to repeat it. Besides, 7% of the documents that print have a hope of life of less than ten minutes before refusing . Therefore, there is quite way for visiting, in subjects of saving, in this type of areas. Also it could save more printing to double expensive, not printing in high quality when it was not necessary and turning off the printers at night.
Significant saving
A more efficient use of the printers, that avoided the waste of paper and ink that supposes to print documents that do not use , would save to the Spanish companies four million euros to the year. Compared with the rest of countries analysed (France, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom), Spain seems to be the country that refuses the lower quantity of paper.
A service of administration of impressesion would help to a lot of companies to reduce these costs. The called Managed Print Services -as the case of Epson Print Performance- result ideals for small and medium enterprises that want to improve the efficiency of his fleet of impressesion and optimise the costs. With an evaluation of the potential of saving related with the hardware of the printer, supplies, services and processes related with the impressesion, identify the areas of saving of costs and can optimise the fleet of impressesion for maximizar his efficiency.
The situation requires greater awareness
Another of the conclusions of the study commissioned by Epson is the fault of awareness in the companies with regard to the energetic saving, as well as his so much economic consequences like ecological. Only with simple gestures like turning off the printers at night or print to double expensive, the saving would result very important.
To the equal that in the rest of the countries analysed, 60% of the companies in Spain do not have an active politics to minimise his footprint of carbon neither show positive signs of the gestión proactiva of his activities of impressesion. However, the study shows that the companies are doing more to improve this. Only 42% of the companies in Spain have a formal politics to turn off all the printers at the end of the day. It is a very upper figure to the European average of 14% but still there is a lot of way for visiting.
Of the laser to the injection
The companies polled of professional services in Spain have an average of two printers laser and two of injection of ink, similar average to the one of the rest of countries analysed. The printers laser are used mainly for tasks of common impressesion: like letters, leaves of calculation and presentations; while the ones of injection of ink (like the series WorkForce Pro of Epson) use also for documents (48%), especially for documents based in images and personal documents. It fits to say that the less common works, according to the survey, answer to the impressesion to colour.
The users of printers of injection of ink perceive this technology like better that the laser in terms of speed and respect by the environingingment. Instead, they consider that it contributes lower quality that the laser and results noisier.
In spite of everything, according to the study commissioned by Epson, 32% of the Spanish companies would consider to buy a printer of injection of ink in place of a laser, which shows a change of tendency to a greater worry for reducing the costs of impressesion and by a more ecological impressesion.
Aims of the study
The study of Coleman Parkes for Epson on tendencies of impressesion in Europe has the aim to capture the economic punto, of the behaviour and the attitude in the use of the impressesion. The investigation of market headed to small and medium enterprises of the professional service sector (legal, financial and other services) that produce documents regularly like integral part of his work. They have realised telephone surveys detailed, of 15 minutes, to 510 companies of Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy.
The professional service sector in Spain is formed by more than 8.000 companies, of which something more than the half have between 10 and 100 employees, while the rest have less than ten. Therefore, the sample for the study has had a greater representation of companies from among 10 and 100 employees.
