Azti-Tecnalia invests 4 million euros in new technologies and attains a turnover of 19,4 millions in 2011

Azti-Tecnalia has bet in the last years by a sustainable economic model based in transforming the knowledge and the R&D in solutions of value for the market. In the current context of crisis, in which it exists a tendency generalised to reduce investments, the foundation has opted for increasing his contribution to new technologies of R&D until reaching the four million euros in the two last years. This commitment with the innovation and the investigation has contributed to a large extent to reach an income of 19,4 million euros in 2011. The economic model of Azti-Tecnalia has been equally recognised in the last survey of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), that situates to the technological centre in the put number 50 of the total of 11.481 companies and organisations that realise activities of R&D in Spain.

The turnover of Azti-Tecnalia keeps a clearly ascending line in the last four years. Of the 17 million euros reached in 2008, happened to 17,8 millions in 2009; in 2010 they attained 18,2 millions and during the past year has given an important advance that situates the turnover in 19,4 million euros. These good results owe , amongst other reasons, to the high level of specialisation attained by the two units of business of the centre: marine investigation and alimentary investigation.

The sustainable economic model of Azti-Tecnalia has situated him in the put number 9 of the companies and organisations of the Basque Country that carry out activities of R&D, according to the last survey on Technological Innovation realised by the INE. This organism situates to the technological centre in the put number 11 inside the Spanish entities of his sector that more invests in R&D. Inside this survey, Azti-Tecnalia has improved his positions regarding 2010. This year occupied the put number 59 inside the group of the State, the place number 11 of Euskadi and the fourteenth place between the organisations of his sector.

The past year also has been very fruitful in the participation of Azti-Tecnalia in projects of pertaining investigation to the VII Program Mark of R&D of the European Union, inside the category of ‘Feeding, Agriculture and Fishing, and Biotechnology'. The Foundation has led a project and has formed part of other four, what situates him like the second state entity that has taken part in more projects, only by behind the Centre for Scientific Research (CSIC).
