The food industry will seek answers to the needs of the senior population

The sixty-year-old population will become one of the most important market segments of the food industry. Know your needs, preferences and sociological profile is essential to develop new products and food service adapted to the demands and the sensory needs of the senior public. To publicize the keys of this new market,Azti-Tecnalia and Basque Culinary Center have organized the Symposium ' Growing young (envejecimiento+alimentacion)', which will be held on October 17 in the facilities of the culinary training centre in Donostia-San Sebastián. The Congress has the collaboration of Afca (Association of manufacturers and marketers of food supplements and additives).
The Symposium will offer the food industry an unbeatable opportunity to have a complete vision of the senior population, from the perspective of the adult population and pre-senior, who in two decades will be part of this market, an audience that will have different requirements in quality and enjoyment than the current senior. The day will focus on sociological context, applied gastronomy, trends and this type of consumer demands, as well as their needs and peculiarities of their diet. The Symposium, which will include a Show cooking, will also serve for food products prototypes senior, as well as new formulations and attractive functional food for this population. Ingredients and additives will also be part of the program and their new applications in food products for older persons will be analysed.
Food adapted to the older population brings with it new actions of r & d within the industry. The needs in the field of research and how it can be applied to the gastronomy and the nutritional requirements of the senior public, will be another axis of the meeting.
The day will be a meeting point key to food companies and a great opportunity to generate business contacts and share experiences and views on the opportunities in this emerging sector. The Symposium will bring together heads of production, r & d and marketing of leading companies in the food sector, as well as representatives from the sector of ingredients and additives, the State and the rest of Europe. Will also be present, different related sectors; in particular, the restoration.
