ACIP: Young parquet ACIP, the Catalan Association of Parquet Manufacturers, as a contribution to the 1st Week of the Fair of Catalonia, organised a Parquet Installation Competition for carpentry students. The initiative was a great success thanks to the positive attitude and the fine technical work of the 24 young entrants from five vocational training schools. The winning team was made up of Miguel Lloberas and Adrià Álamo, from the Josep Brugulat Institute. Atony in the European parquet market The Governing Committee of the European Parquet Federation (EPF) assessed the situation of European parquet markets and analysed the economic indicators relating to the first eight months of the year. Most of the markets have recorded falls in sales, including Germany. Sweden was the only major market that recorded growth. The A,B,C of legislation for wooden floorings ACIP, the Catalan Association of Parquet Manufacturers, held a conference on parquet installation legislation. The speaker was Ángel Nevado, vice-chairman of the Spanish Wood Flooring Federation (FEPM). EPLF: New requirements for sub-layers of laminate floorings EPLF, the European Producers of Laminate Flooring association, has prepared a very practical guide leaflet entitled: «This is how Laminate Finds the Right Sub-Layer». It describes the main requirements of the CEN/ TS 16354 standard for sub-layers of laminate flooring. 2014 Wood-Plastic Composite Conference The 2014 Wood-Plastic Composite International Conference was held at the beginning of November in Austria. As every year, the conference analysed the performance of the sector and other matters of interest for the WPC industry, mainly technological issues. HI FLOOR laminate flooring, by Flint Flooring Bona holds its Annual Conference for Latin American Distributors in Panama The 8th Bona Annual Conference for Latin American Distributors took place at the beginning of November at the Decameron Resort Hotel in Farallon, Panama. This brought together various distributors from the Swedish company that are present in 21 countries in Latin America. Parquets Nadal backs the signature parquet floors of Xilo The company Parquets Nadal has reached an agreement with the Italian manufacturer Piemente Parquets, part of the Baso Legnami Group, to distribute the parquet floors from its 1939 Xilo range in Catalonia. Altro wins the 2014 Manufacturing Excellence Award Altro, the English manufacturer of non-slip floors, has won an award that is held in high esteem by British companies. It is the 2014 Manufacturing Excellence Award 2014, in the Innovation in Products and Processes category, awarded by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The Egger exhibition lorry travels Spain with its new laminate flooring The exhibition lorry of the Austrian manufacturer Egger has again chosen Spain as its mobile platform to promote the new Egger Laminate Flooring collection. The roadshow arrived at the Gabarró facilities in Gavà on 7th October after visiting Zaragoza, Valladolid, Seville and Malaga. First course for Bona certified professionals Bona Iberia has given its first BCCP course to certify professionals. It was focused on its Portuguese clients in Coimbra on 3rd and 4th December with the participation of 13 Portuguese parquet installers. Success of APEIMA’S health and safety at work courses The Association of Small Business Installers of Wood (APEIMA) organised health and safety at work courses for its members. The basic course was composed of 60 hours (20 on site and 40 by distance learning). The cycle continued with a 6-hour «profession-specific» course, and concluded with a 10-hour on-site course for managers. The MMFAbroadens the definition of modular multi-layer flooring The Multilayer Modular Flooring Association (MMFA) held a General Meeting to discuss the projects in progress and the new tasks facing the Technical and Market Development Committees. Special attention was given to the new EN 16511 European standard and the definition of multi-layer modular flooring was broadened.
