Este contrato será el primer pedido ejecutado en la nueva fábrica de monopiles XXL que ambas empresas construyen en el astillero de Fene (A Coruña), con una inversión de 36 M€. El proceso de acopio de materiales comenzó en julio y está previsto el inicio de los trabajos de producción en la nueva fábrica en diciembre. El plazo de ejecución global es de 10 meses, generando 280.000 horas de trabajo, una media de 150 empleos directos al mes. Los monopiles están destinados al proyecto Moray West, que tendrá una capacidad de generación de 882 MW mediante 60 turbinas de 14,7 MW. Este parque está siendo desarrollado por Ocean Winds en el área occidental de la zona eólica marina de Moray Firth, a unos 22 km de la costa de Caithness, en Escocia. Los monopiles tendrán una longitud aproximada de 90 m, un diámetro máximo de 10 m y mínimo de 8 m y un peso máximo de 2.000 t. Este tipo de pilotes XXL, el producto con mayor cuota de mercado entre las cimentaciones fijas, es nuevo para Navantia Windar. De este modo, con este contrato, esta alianza empresarial se introduce en un segmento del mercado en el que aspira a desempeñar un papel relevante, si bienWindar Renovables ya destaca como fabricante de piezas de transición para ese tipo de monopiles. Este primer contrato de monopiles XXL supone un éxito por la diversificación del catálogo de productos de eólica marina de la compañía, que apuesta por un producto de gran recorrido en los próximos años y por desarrollar el tejido industrial local en la Ría de Ferrol, capitalizando la enorme demanda prevista de productos de eólica marina, que se multiplicará por tres en solo cinco años. Ocean Winds se creó en 2019 como empresa participada al 50% por EDPR y la multinacional francesa ENGIE, y es actualmente uno de los desarrolladores de eólica marina más importantes en el ámbito internacional. Cuenta con 1,5 GW en operación en Europa, y 9,7 GW en desarrollo en Reino Unido, Francia, Portugal, Bélgica, Polonia, EE.UU. y Corea del Sur. Navantia ya trabajó en el pasado en la construcción de 20 jackets para Moray East (proyecto gestionado también por Ocean Winds, entre otros socios), que se ejecutó igualmente en el astillero de Puerto Real, y la alianza de Navantia y Windar Renovables también trabajó con EDPR para su primer proyecto de eólica flotante semisumergible (WindFloat Atlantic en 2018-2019). n Ocean Winds, a Spanish company set up by EDP Renewables (EDPR) and ENGIE and dedicated to offshore wind power, has been awarded an order for 14 monopiles by the Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables joint venture for its Moray West offshore wind farm to be installed in Scottish waters. This contract will be the first order executed at the new XXL monopile factory that both companies are building at the Fene shipyard (A Coruña), with an investment of €36m. Developed by Ocean Winds, this wind farm is situated in the western area of the Moray Firth offshore wind power zone, some 22 km off the coast of Caithness in Scotland. The monopiles are about 90 metres long, with a maximum diameter of 10 m and a minimum of 8 m and weigh a maximum 2,000 tonnes. This type of XXL pile, the product with the largest market share along with fixed foundations, is new for Navantia-Windar. Thanks to this contract, the joint venture is therefore entering a market segment in which it aims to play a key role, even though Windar Renovables already has a prominent position as manufacturer of transition pieces for this type of monopile. This first contract for XXL monopiles represents a successful diversification of the company’s portfolio of offshore wind power products, proof of its long-term commitment to this product in the coming years and to the development of the local industrial fabric in the Ría de Ferrol, capitalising on the huge demand expected for offshore wind power products that will multiply three-fold in just five years. Ocean Winds was set up in 2019, a 50:50 joint venture between EDPR and the French multinational ENGIE. It is currently one of the most important developers of offshore wind power on the international stage, with 1.5 GW in operation in Europe, and 9.7 GW being developed in the UK, France, Portugal, Belgium, Poland, the US and South Korea.
