The report finds that solar is the fastest growing sector, generating 4.3 million jobs in 2021, more than one-third of the current global renewable workforce. In parallel, PV energy in Spain employed a total of 89,644 workers in 2021, of which 21,596 were direct jobs, 39,479 indirect and 28,569 induced, respectively. However, one of the major trends is that according to IRENA, the PV industry is the highest employer of women in 2021, with 41% of women in full-time employment. This proportion is almost twice that of women employed in the wind power industry (21%) and in the oil & gas sector (22%). It is also higher than the average percentage of women employed in every renewable energy sector, which stands at 32%. The new report from IRENA, Solar PV: A Gender Perspective, concludes that women perform the best in the manufacturing of solar PV power, given that they represent 47% of the workforce. Según este documento el sector solar es el de más rápido crecimiento, y generó 4,3 millones de empleos en 2021, más de una tercera parte de la mano de obra actual en renovables en todo el mundo. Paralelamente, en España, en 2021 la energía fotovoltaica empleaba a un total de 89.644 trabajadores tanto de forma directa, como indirecta e inducida.
