The company Ona Energíes implemented the project, with the commercial and technical support of Suministros Orduña, who also supplied the equipment. The farm, which has been converted to agrotourism following a comprehensive refurbishment of its buildings, is in a remote area with no mains power supply. As such, the user investigated the possibility of incorporating a PV installation and thereby obtain 100% renewable energy. The farm used to have a small renewable installation before the comprehensive refurbishment was undertaken, however it was completely obsolete. The expected consumption with the refurbishment was in line with the future business and far higher than that previously required by the farming activity. Therefore, for reasons of both economy and eco-awareness, the client decided it was opportune and necessary to electrify the property with renewable energy. Having implemented the installation, it was found that the initially forecast consumption was lower than the actual figures, so the possibility of an extension was studied. In the end, the facility was expanded by 154 kWh, doubling the cumulative energy to 308 kWh. The extension is currently being commissioned and will achieve an approximate annual production of 176,700 kWh. The installation involved 310monocrystalline HiKu PVmodules frommanufacturer Canadian Solar, specifically, 124modules with 375Wp and 186 modules with 380Wp, delivering a peak output of 117.18 kWp. As regards inverters, on the advice of Suministros Orduña, Ona Energíes opted for the manufacturer SMA. Two 20 kW and three 25 kW Sunny Tripower X models were installed, in addition to nine 8 KW Sunny Island inverters connected to a Multicluster with the capacity to connect 12 Sunny Islands in a three-phase system with 200 A per phase. To complete the project, a storage system has been installed comprising 10 + 10 modules of the Battery-Box Premium LVL frommanufacturer BYD, which will achieve a total storage of 308 kWh. The installation also has a 60 kVA diesel generator as a backup, connected to the Multicluster for automatic start-up. Overall monitoring of the installation takes place via the free Sunny Portal from SMA via the Data Manager M and Sunny Home Manager 2.0 accessories. The Data Manager M is responsible for monitoring, controlling and regulating the output to cover the consumption in decentralised PV plants; while the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 monitors every energy flow and automatically detects the savings potential, making the solar power usage more efficient. Thanks to the monitoring system and the simplicity of the Sunny Portal, the end client can check that the system is operating correctly, as well as view possible underusage of the solar power resulting from an intermittent consumer profile and/or outside the PV generation curve.
