Los gases renovables, como el biometano originado a partir de residuos orgánicos, o el hidrógeno y el gas sintético producidos con electricidad renovable jugarán un papel relevante en el camino hacia la descarbonización de estos sectores. ¿Qué es el BioGNC / BioGNL, SNG, H2 Verde, H2 Azul? Biometano (BioGNC / BioGNL): gas 100% renovable, originado a partir de residuos biológicos, lodos de aguas residuales o residuos orgánicos domésticos e industriales, que contribuye al desarrollo de la economía circular como alternativa sostenible al tratamiento de residuos. Puede ser inyectado en red o empleado directamente como combustible en vehículos de GNC y GNL. Tiene la ventaja de ser totalmente intercambiable cono en gran parte neutro en carbono puede comenzar desde hoy, aportando redrroviarias no electrificadas, aproximadamente el 37% de la red ferroviaria. El GNL es una tecnología viable para sustituir las locomotoras diésel en esta red de transporte. Además, la posibilidad de incluir mezclas de hidrógeno con gas natural, puede ser un primer paso hacia la descarbonización completa del sector ferroviario.
