Es precisamente en los momentos de crisis cuando llegamos a replantearnos el mundo como lo conocíamos antes y estas reflexiones pueden conllevar importantes oportunidades de cambio. En los últimos años, el cambio climático provocado por los gases de efecto invernadero está en boca de todos. La mayor concienciación de la sociedad, especialmente de los colectivos más jóvenes, ha puesto en el centro de la agenda socio-política la necesidad de llevar a cabo una transición energética hacia un modelo sostenible basado en las energías renovables. Precisamente la lucha contra el cambio climático debe ser uno de los pilares de la estrategia económica a adoptar para salir de la crisis que estamos viviendo, tal y como ha propuesto recientemente la Alianza Europea para una Recuperación Verde. Los efectos económicos y laborales del COVID-19 deben ser mitigados con inversiones que a la vez generen puestos de trabajo de calidad y beneficios económicos y sociales a largo plazo. El plan de desarrollo de energías renovables, liderado por la Ministra de Transición Energética, puede contribuir a generar decenas de miles de puestos de trabajo, reducir el precio de la energía y mejorar la calidad del aire. Al igual que las medidas contra el cambio climático, el impulso hacia la igualdad de oportunidades es un tema recurrente en nuestros días y debería convertirse en otro pilar para mitigar los efectos del COVID-19. It is precisely during moments of crisis that we end up rethinking the world as we knew it before and these reflections can lead to important opportunities for change. In recent years, climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions has been the talk of the town. The heightened awareness of society, particularly among younger groups, has placed the need to achieve an energy transition towards a sustainable model based on renewable energies at the centre of the sociopolitical agenda. Precisely the fight against climate change needs to be one of the pillars of the economic strategy to be adopted in order to exit the crisis we are currently experiencing, as recently proposed by the European Alliance for a Green Recovery. The economic and labour impacts of the COVID-19 must be mitigated through investments that in turn generate quality jobs, as well as long-term social and economic benefits. The renewable energy development plan, headed up by the Minister for Energy Transition, can help create tens of thousands of jobs, bring down the price of energy and improve air quality. As with the measures to combat climate change, the drive towards equal opportunities is a recurrent theme of our times and must become one further pillar to mitigate the effects of COVID-19.
