El objetivo de esta operación es que estos rodamientos queden inservibles, evitando así de forma definitiva que lleguen al mercado y, en consecuencia, posibles riesgos para fabricantes y usuarios. “La piratería de productos y marcas no es un fenómeno que se limita a Asia y al Sudeste de Europa. También tiene lugar aquí mismo”, afirma Ingrid Bichelmeir-Böhn, responsable del equipo de Protección de Marca Global en Schaeffler. “Además la mayoría de la gente solo tiene en mente productos de lujo o productos de consumo, cuando piensa en falsificaciones, pero también hay un incremento de las falsificaciones de productos industriales, relevantes para la seguridad, como los rodamientos”. La falsificación de rodamientos y la distribución de estos productos son perseguidas de forma permanente por Schaeffler en todo el mundo y pueden tener, en algunos casos, importantes consecuencias penales. Las pérdidas económicas causadas por la falsificación de productos son muy difíciles de estimar, ya que además de la pérdida de ventas y del daño a la imagen de la compañía por la baja calidad de los productos, también hay que sumar los elevados costes de la investigación, incautación y de la correcta destrucción de los rodamientos. No tan sólo resultan perjudicadas las compañías que fabrican productos de marca y que llevan a cabo un importante esfuerzo en investigación, desarrollo y calidad, sino también aquellas compañías que montan falsificaciones y sus clientes. Departamento específico para la lucha contra la piratería de productos En 2004 Schaeffler creó un equipo central para luchar contra la piratería e infracción de productos y de sus marcas. Desde entonces, han sucedido muchas cosas: en todo este tiempo, el Equipo de Protección de Marca ha gestionado varios miles de casos. Gracias a estas experiencias a nivel mundial, el modo de proceder, para luchar contra estas infracciones, se ha ido perfeccionando continuamente. Counterfeiting bearings and the distribution of these products are pursued on an ongoing basis by Schaeffler around the world and in some cases can result in serious criminal consequences. The economic losses caused by counterfeiting products are very hard to estimate, as in addition to the loss of sales and the damage to the corporate image due the inferior quality products, the high costs involved in investigating, confiscating and properly destroying the bearings must also be taken into account. Not only are the companies that make the branded products negatively impacted, and who undertake significant work into their research, development and quality, but also those companies that install the fake products and their clients. Specific department to combat product piracy In 2004 Schaeffler set up a central team to combat piracy and the infringement of products and its brands. Since then, many things have happened: over the entire period, the Brand Protection Team has managed several thousand cases and thanks to these experiences at global level, the way to continue to combat these crimes is being continuously improved. To guarantee Schaeffler’s clients quality, reliability and safety, the company has evaluated and certified every one of its distributors worldwide, stating the relationship of each on the Schaeffler website where their certification number can also be checked. In addition, Schaeffler has developed several apps for smartphone, such as the OriginCheck app that can easily identify the origin of a bearing by scanning the Data Matrix code indicated on the packaging. Actions against product piracy Counterfeiting and distributing bearings is being continuously pursued by Schaeffler around the world with a zero tolerance approach to those companies that make piracy one of the bases of their business model.
