FY51 - FuturEnergy

Este estudio es una propuesta alternativa al informe de la Comisión de Expertos para la Ley de Transición Energética y Cambio Climático Protermosolar has released its report “The Power Sector Transition: 2030 Horizon”which projects a scenario for that year without coal or nuclear power stations; with 85.6% of renewable generation compared to the 62.1% from the Committee of Experts (CdE); with a reduction of 82% of waste and 60% of emissions compared to the Committee’s report; and at a cost of under 0.05€/kWh. The study envisages less back-up from combined cycles than the CdE report meaning that renewable energies achieve a penetration of final energy demand of 34%, meeting the EU targets. The key lies in distributing the solar capacity forecast by the CdE between PV and CSP and dispatching new CSP plants with storage after sunset. Planners and those responsible for energy must understand the differences between the renewable energy technologies in order to cover demand securely, cost-effectively and emissionsfree, something that the markets, exclusively comparing generation costs, do not. This study provides an alternative proposal to the report by the Committee of Experts for the Law on Energy Transition and Climate Change. The study is drawn up by the CSP business association and is based not on computer models, but on a projection created from the actual hourly generation data over past years of the proposed mix. Its conclusions therefore correspond to actual verification of the capacity of an optimised renewables mix, identifying the real back-up capacity that would be needed. The report concludes that coal, nuclear and part of the current combined-cycle stock would be surplus to requirements. The scenario forecast by Protermosolar covers the same demand to 2030 as that projected by the CdE and with the same renewable output of 106 GW, broken down as follows: 33 GWwind; 25 GW PV; 20 GW CSP and 5 GW from other renewables. 2030 SCENARIO: 85%OF RENEWABLE GENERATION, WITHOUT COAL OR NUCLEAR, AT UNDER 0.05€/KWH The CSP business association, Protermosolar, has submitted an alternative proposal to the report from the Committee of Experts for the Law on Energy Transition and Climate Change. The study is based on real hourly generation and demand data, projected to 2030, and proposes a newmix with a reduction in its cost, emissions and the necessary back-up from conventional power plants. The report highlights that dispatching CSP after sunset, to complement PV production, can reduce the need for back-up and thus bring down costs. Similarly, it indicates that wind and solar will be the pillars of generation of the future, with hydro and biomass providing support due to their dispatch flexibility. The report’s data demonstrates that it is possible to reduce waste by 82% and CO2 emissions by 60% compared to the report released by the Committee of Experts.
