Esperanza Rico Directora FuturENERGY celebra su quinto aniversario Cuando hace algo más de cinco años me enfrenté al reto de poner en marcha un nuevo proyecto, sacar adelante dos revistas técnicas, no imaginaba las vicisitudes que ello traería. Menos aún, cuando en realidad no podía decirse en rigor que el proyecto fuese nuevo para mí, pues ya portaba a mis espaldas más de 17 años de experiencia en el sector de las revistas técnicas. Por otro lado, sí tenía algo nuevo en otros sentidos, pues quería plasmar en ellos muchas ideas que bullían en mi cabeza, y que en mis anteriores etapas no había podido poner en práctica: editar revistas bilingües (español-inglés), potenciarlas con una importante presencia on-line, y llevarlas más allá del Atlántico, posicionándolas como referencia en Latinoamérica. Y había una diferencia fundamental, por primera vez me enfrentaba al trabajo que había venido realizando en las dos últimas décadas, como empresaria y llevando dos revistas, y sabía que lo hacía en dos mundos, energético y medio ambiente, en el que la gran mayoría de los puestos directivos están ocupados por hombres. No es cuestión de entrar aquí en discusiones de género, pero ya sabía que me encontraría muchas corbatas y trajes en las reuniones, ferias, congresos...Es por ello, que para celebrar este quinto aniversario decidí dar voz a mujeres, que como yo, desarrollan su actividad profesional, en un mundo eminentemente masculino, y el resultado no ha podido ser más satisfactorio. Me quedo con las palabras de todas ellas, y a buen seguro con las de las que publicaremos en la segunda parte de este especial en nuestra siguiente edición. Y estoy segura de que calarán hondo en todos los que leáis estas páginas. Y por supuesto, agradezco profundamente a todas ellas, su colaboración en este especial. Y por último, no me queda sino seguir con los agradecimientos para todos los que han hecho posible haber llegado hasta aquí: anunciantes, suscriptores, patrocinadores, Comité Asesor, colaboradores, instituciones públicas, lectores y followers, asociaciones sectoriales y proveedores. También quiero recordar a todos aquellos que con sus críticas me han ayudado a crecer, y han incrementado mi empeño en hacer de FuturENERGY una referencia en el sector. Por último, y no por ello, menos importante tengo que reconocer desde aquí el trabajo de todo el equipo, sin el que, habría sido absolutamente imposible este proyecto. Gracias a todos por estos cinco años de apoyo. Esperamos seguir cumpliendo años llenos de energía, contando con vuestra ayuda y colaboración. FuturENERGY celebrates its fifth birthday When, just over five years ago I faced the challenge of launching a new project to bring out two technical magazine, I never imagined the difficulties that this would involve. Least of all, when in truth this project was not strictly new for me, given that I had over 17 years of experience in the technical journal sector behindme. However, it was new inmany other senses, as I wanted them to reflect the many ideas deep inside my head and which inmy former work I had been unable to put into practice: to publish bilingual magazines (Spanish-English), promote them through a significant presence online and take them to the other side of the Atlantic, positioning them as a reference in Latin America. And now there was a fundamental difference: for the first time I was facing a task that I had been doing for the past two decades, as a business woman and the owner of twomagazines, knowing how the two worlds of energy and environment worked and in which the vast majority of executive positions are occupied by men. This is not the place to start discussions over gender, but I already knew that I would come across many suits and ties at meetings, trade fairs and conferences. And this is why, to celebrate our fifth birthday, I decided to give a voice to women who, like me, work professionally in an eminently masculine world. The outcome could not have been better. I stand behind everything they say and of course with the articles to be published in the second part of this special section that will appear in our next edition. And I am sure their words will ring true with everyone who reads these pages. My deepest gratitude to all our female contributors to this special edition. It remains for me to acknowledge everyone who has made it possible for us to have come this far: advertisers, subscribers, sponsors, our Advisory Committee, contributors, public institutions, readers and followers, sector associations and suppliers. I would also like to recognise all those whose feedback has helped me improve and enhance my work to make FuturENERGY become a reference in the sector. Last and by no means least I must recognise the work of my entire teamwithout which this project would have been absolutely impossible.
