Hasta la fecha, los SCADAs instalados en la mayoría de los aerogeneradores están diseñados con la mentalidad industrial de hace años, aportan información básica sin procesar y no son ágiles a la hora de proporcionar datos que faciliten la toma de decisión en plazos cortos. Además, las interfaces son poco interactivas y, en muchas ocasiones, solamente se puede acceder a la información desde el ordenador situado en el mismo parque. Sin embargo, la actual tecnología CompactSCADA® da un salto cualitativo, que hace posible que el responsable de operaciones y mantenimiento, e incluso, el promotor del parque, tengan información relevante en tiempo real en la palma de la mano a través de su smartphone.
