Esperanza Rico Directora Hacia una economía baja en carbono En 2015 las energías limpias atrajeron una inversión mundial de más de 300.000 M$... Un grupo de millonarios, liderado por Bill Gates, crea un fondo de energías limpias dotado con 1.000 M$.... Google obtendrá toda la energía que consume de renovables en 2017... La CE presenta Energía limpia para Todos los Europeos, un paquete de nuevas medidas para liderar la transición hacia la energía limpia... Los titulares de la prensa mundial, y recogemos solo algunos de los más llamativos, confirman que la transición hacia la energía limpia ya es imparable, a pesar de las dudas, más que fundadas, que ha levantado en todo el mundo cuál será la política energética de EE.UU. en los próximos años, no se puede negar que el mercado y muchos gobiernos, sirva como ejemplo la UE, ya consideran el cambio climático y la transición hacia economías bajas en carbono, como una prioridad en sus agendas políticas y toman medidas, fijan metas y diseñan estrategias e instrumentos para alcanzarlas. Con la mirada puesta en la eficiencia energética, las energías renovables, el autoconsumo y los prosumidores, la rehabilitación energética, la calefacción y refrigeración eficientes, la movilidad sostenible, las redes inteligentes, el almacenamiento de energía, y otras muchas tecnologías limpias, Europa camina hacia la descarbonización de su economía. El nuevo paquete de la UE, cuyo contenido se examina en profundidad en un artículo de este número, se compromete a reducir las emisiones de CO2 en al menos un 40% para 2030, prevé la movilización de hasta 177.000 M$ anuales de inversión pública y privada a partir de 2021, lo que podría generar un aumento del PIB próximo al 1% durante la próxima década y crear 900.000 nuevos puestos de trabajo. No son cifras desdeñables, y aunque han surgido algunas voces críticas con algunos puntos de este paquete, es evidente, que la voluntad política comienza a moverse hacia un futuro más limpio. Son muchos los artículos de esta edición de FuturENERGY, como de cualquier otra de nuestra revista, que presentan soluciones, casos de éxito, proyectos, etc. en este camino, y con el objetivo de difundir estas buenas prácticas y soluciones llega este mes nuestra revista a manos de nuestros queridos lectores, a los que deseamos una muy Feliz Navidad. Towards a low carbon economy Clean energy attracted global investments of over US$300 billion in 2015... Bill Gates and a group of billionaires launch a US$1 billion clean energy fund.... Google to source 100% of its power from renewables in 2017... The EC presents Clean Energy for All Europeans, a package of new measures to lead the transition towards clean energy... Some of the most striking headlines from the world’s press confirm that the transition towards clean energy is now unstoppable. Despite the rather well-founded doubts that have arisen in the mind of everyone concerned as to what the USA’s energy policy will look like over the coming years, there is no denying that the market and many governments, such as the EU, already have climate change and the transition towards low carbon economies high on their political agendas and are implementing measures, setting goals and designing strategies and instruments to achieve these aims. With the focus on energy efficiency, renewables, self-consumption and prosumers, energy refurbishment, efficient heating and cooling, sustainable mobility, smart grids, energy storage and many other clean technologies, Europe is moving towards decarbonising its economy. The new EU package, whose content is examined in depth in this issue, is committed to a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. The mobilisation of up to US$177bn per year in public and private investment as from 2021 is forecast, which could lead to a 1% increase in GDP over the coming decade, creating 900,000 new jobs. These figures are by no means insignificant and although some voices of criticism can be heard regarding certain elements of this package, political will is clearly starting to shift towards a cleaner future. Many articles in this month’s edition of FuturENERGY discuss solutions, success stories and projects that focus on this topic and, as with other issues of our magazine, our aim is to share these good practices and solutions with our readers, to whomwe take this opportunity to wish a very Happy Christmas.
