El avión aterrizó en el mismo punto en el que inició el viaje, Abu Dabi, tras una última etapa de 48 horas y 37 minutos de duración desde El Cairo. Durante su vuelo alrededor del mundo, Solar Impulse ha hecho escalas en cuatro continentes (Asia, Norteamérica, Europa y África), y ha sobrevolado dos océanos (el Pacífico y el Atlántico), además del mar Mediterráneo y la península arábiga. El vuelo ha establecido varios récords absolutos de aviación, incluyendo el vuelo en solitario de mayor duración (117 horas y 52 minutos) realizado por André Borschberg en la etapa de Japón a Hawai, y el primer vuelo sobre el océano Atlántico en un avión solar, realizado por Bertrand Piccard. Solar Impulse, aliado con ABB, ha completado su vuelta al mundo sin consumir una sóla gota de combustible, demostrando que es posible hacer funcionar el mundo sin agotar los recursos naturales. En su vuelo alrededor del mundo, Solar Impulse ha afrontado muchos de los desafíos que ABB viene desde hace tiempo resolviendo en tierra para sus clientes, tales como maximizar el rendimiento de las células solares, integrar la generación renovable en las redes eléctricas de distribución, y mejorar la eficiencia energética. During its flight around the world, Solar Impulse has made stopovers on four continents (Asia, North America, Europe and Africa), and has flown across two oceans (the Pacific and the Atlantic), as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Peninsula.
