Adapting to new scenarios in Mexico and Chile Two of GES’s main markets - Mexico and Chile - are poised to change in 2016, due to the new auction system being adopted by these countries. The first auction in Mexico, under which offers were made to the Federal Electricity Commission for the sale of energy and green certifications, was a complete game changer for the renewable market. The result was a huge drop in the 15-year feed in tariff, largely thanks to the solar projects awarded. Mexico, a market in where GES has been actively present for more than 10 years is still dominated by wind power. The second auction, due to be held in September, will give a better idea if the trend towards the award of solar projects is going to consolidate in this country. GES has extensive experience in the Mexican wind power market and is able to adapt to the changes that may arise. This is thanks to its large portfolio of services for the renewable energy sector and its highly efficient project management, offering the best and most reliable solutions at a competitive price, even for the most complex projects. In the case of Chile, GES is already working on the auction that is going to be held in the coming weeks, in order to be best placed for the huge demand that will arise once the results are announced. The company’s vast experience in renewable projects in this country, with more than 450 MW constructed, of which 330 MW are wind farms, endorses its capacity in a still growing market, where GES is proud of being a pioneer. A perfectly timed return to Egypt GES has recently restarted its construction activity in Egypt after a period during which the company only undertook O&M projects in the country. With an extensive experience in the Egyptian market, the company has constructed a total of 320 MW. This new project together with the high expectations that GES has for the coming months, leads GES to think that Egypt could become a benchmark market in the near future. OBJECTIVE: TO CONTINUE TO BE A PIONEER IN CONSTRUCTION AND SERVICES FOR THE RENEWABLES SECTOR Some changes have taken place in recent months in two of the mainmarkets headed up by GES - Mexico and Chile -, but despite this, the Spanish company still sees both as marketswith huge future potential. A recent period of intensivework in Egypt has revealed that this is a target market and onewhere GES benefits from both experience and significant opportunities. The North Americanmarket also represents a challenge, resulting in a boost to the sales team in the last fewmonths. FuturEnergy | Junio June 2016 www.futurenergyweb.es 97 Eólica.
