La reducción de la huella de carbono en este centro productivo ha evitado en un año la emisión de 1.555 t de CO2. En términos económicos, se confía en alcanzar un ahorro anual cercano a 500.000 € en la fábrica, con un margen de mejora constante mes a mes, y que se podrá seguir incrementando a medio plazo a medida que se apliquen nuevos proyectos de eficiencia. Son cifras modestas, pero con una proyección significativa. Habría sido imposible obtenerlas sin la aportación de un socio especializado. De hecho, uno de los pasos más importantes, y determinantes que ha dado la compañía en materia de eficiencia energética ha sido escoger a un aliado estratégico, capaz de convertirla en más eficiente y que a la vez encaja a la perfección con una estrategia de sostenibilidad ambiental como la de Calidad Pascual, centrada en el ahorro energético. Se partía de la necesidad de encontrar un compañero de viaje en el camino hacia la eficiencia energética que garantizase conocimiento y asesoramiento profesional en temas industriales, recursos propios y know-how ligado a energía. En los años anteriores a la entrada en vigor del contrato con EDF Fenica los ratios de consumo bajaban, pero lentamente. Con este contrato, la reducción de los consumos es más rápida y, además, se comparten los riesgos. Tan gratificante ha sido la experiencia y los resultados alcanzados con los proyectos iniciales desarrollados en la planta de Gurb (Barcelona), que se ha decidido ampliar progresivamente la colaboración como Socio Energético Global a otros centros de producción de Calidad Pascual en España, como el caso del complejo fabril de Calidad Pascual en Aranda de Duero, mayor centro productivo del grupo en España con una producción anual de leche de 440 millones de litros. De entre todas las opciones que ofrece EDF Fenice como socio, Calidad Pascual ha apostado por la modalidad de Socio Estratégico Global, una condición pionera en este sector, mediante la cual las instalaciones son monitorizadas, los ahorros energéticos reales sirven para amortizar las inversiones realizadas y los ahorros netos resultantes son compartidos. De esta forma, Calidad Pascual se garantiza un ahorro positivo durante la etapa de amortización y, al final de la misma adquiere los activos, quedándose con una instalación optimizada y sin esfuerzo inversor. In just one year the reduced carbon footprint of this productive centre has avoided the emission of 1,555 tonnes of CO2. In economic terms, the factory expects to achieve an annual saving of €500,000 with a constant margin for improvement month on month. This saving could continue to increase in the medium-term as new efficiency projects are implemented. The figures aremodest but they have significant outreach. It would have been impossible to achieve themwithout the contribution of a specialist partner. One of themost important and decisive measures adopted by company as regards energy efficiency has been the selection of a strategic partner tomake the companymore efficient while fitting perfectly into Calidad Pascual’s environmental sustainability strategy that focuses on energy saving. This decision stemmed from the need to final a travelling companion on the journey towards energy efficiency that would guarantee knowledge and professional advice on industrial issues, in-house resources and know-how linked to energy. Calidad Pascual found this partner in EDF Fenice Ibérica, the Spanish subsidiary of the leading energy and environmental services company in Europe. Under the umbrella of a Global Energy Alliance signed in 2014, both companies have been working in harmony, benefitting from a win-win model that has allowed them to achieve important results in energy services optimisation. In the years prior to the entry into force of the contract with EDF Fenice, consumption ratios dropped, albeit slowly. Thanks to this contract, consumption has reduced faster, on top of which, risks are shared. With such a satisfactory outcome and results achieved from the initial projects implemented at the Gurb plant, the decision was taken to gradually extend the collaboration to other Calidad Pascual production centres in Spain. One such centre is the company’s factory complex in Aranda de Duero, the group’s largest centre in the country producing 440million litres of milk per annum. Among the options offered by EDF Fenice as a partner, Calidad Pascual has opted for its Global Strategic Partner format, a pioneering model for the sector, under which the installations are monitored and where actual energy savings achieved amortise the investments made, sharing in the resultant net savings. In this way, Calidad Pascual guarantees positive savings during the amortisation period, at the end of which, it acquires the assets, leaving the company with an optimised installation and no investment required. Via Calidalia the company is also working with Magnus CMD to undertake advisory work on contracting electrical energy and fuel, a service that currently has a high added value for the customer. The markets are increasingly complex and the smart management of the contracts undoubtedly contributes to bringing down energy costs. Such a virtuous circle benefits both parties. By contracting a partner with this profile, Calidad Pascual has been able to focus on the core of its business, while EDF Fenice can concentrate on the operation and maintenance of assets including fuel systems, the electrical system, heat generation, HVAC, compressed air systems, cooling systems, fire protection, lighting, industrial water treatment, waste water treatment and the management of solid waste, electricity and so on.
