Los mercados en desarrollo aceleran el crecimiento verde”) estima que un 60% de las empresas constructoras esperan que sus edificios certificados se dupliquen en 2018, pasando del 18% actual al 37%. Como se puede ver en el Gráfico 1 este crecimiento esperado está impulsado principalmente por países en desarrollo con un sector de la edificación sostenible emergente. Mercados maduros como EE.UU. y Europa (incluyendo a Alemania, Polonia y Reino Unido) arrojan niveles moderados de crecimiento. Por el contrario, los encuestados de México, Brasil, Colombia, Arabia Saudí, Sudáfrica, China e India, presentan un crecimiento mucho mayor en el porcentaje de proyectos que esperan certificar como proyectos verdes. Entre los principales impulsores del mercado de la construcción sostenible, los encuestados encuentran que la demanda de los clientes es el principal impulsor. By contrast, survey respondents in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, China and India indicate a far higher growth in the percentage of projects that they expect to be certified as green. Participants surveyed reported that, among the main triggers of the green building market, client demand came out on top.While this aspect has been crucial in past studies conducted in 2008 and 2012, in 2015 it has taken on a significant level of importance, positioning itself as one of the most important triggers for growth in green building, increasing from 35% in 2012 to 40% in 2015. Environmental regulation also experienced an increase in its percentage, rising from 23% to 25%, driven by a high level of responses in a few regions including India, Singapore and the UK. However, priorities supporting green building vary widely by region. For example, while encouraging sustainable business practices is an important reason for building green in most countries, it carries very little weight in Saudi Arabia, where increasing worker productivity is a critical factor. Similarly, while energy conservation is nearly universally held as an important environmental reason for building green, for some countries such Brazil, Colombia, Australia and China protecting natural resources is considered a priority by nearly every survey respondent. More than 1,000 survey respondents from 69 different countries took part in the report, including Green Building Council España.
