ESPAÑA | SPAIN Minsait y Ecoembes han apostado por aplicar la tecnología blockchain al sistema de reciclaje en España a través del proyecto Circular Trust. Circular Trust está diseñado para optimizar el proceso de selección, recogida y reciclaje de residuos, reduciendo sus costes e impacto medioambiental y aumentando la transparencia de todo el proceso. Así, este sistema de registros distribuidos permite que todos los agentes que intervienen en el proceso -administraciones públicas, entidades locales, operadores, recicladores y otras organizaciones- puedan acceder a los datos del sistema y optimizar las transacciones de información. Desde que CircularTrust empezó a funcionar en 2020 se han registrado centenares de transacciones diarias asociadas a la retirada de residuos en más de 90 plantas de selección que hay en España, así como al traslado de los mismos a más de 70 instalaciones recicladoras homologadas, con seguimiento de todo el proceso en tiempo real. Durante el primer semestre de 2022, se ha procesado un promedio de 4.725 retiradas y alrededor de 18.000 transacciones mensuales, que han quedado registradas de forma inmutable en la red blockchain Como demuestra este proyecto, el blockchain ofrece la posibilidad de seguir dando pasos en la mejora del proceso de reciclaje, ofreciendo un mayor control de la información gracias al establecimiento de contratos inteligentes, la generación de evidencias documentales o la automatización o de pagos, entre otros. De esta manera, esta tecnología no solo redunda en una mayor transparencia, sino también en una mayor eficiencia. n En Brasil, el Grupo Renova ha hecho un avance en sus capacidades de producción de combustibles alternativos en una colaboración de última generación con el fabricante de trituradoras industriales UNTHA. La empresa familiar ha puesto en marcha una línea de producción de CDR (Combustible Derivado de Residuos) en un solo paso, lo que permite transformar los residuos en una fuente de energía renovable, utilizando una sola máquina trituradora. Una trituradora de residuos UNTHA XR30000C se encuentra ahora en corazón de la planta, produciendo un combustible homogéneo de 50mm para la industria del cemento. Grupo Renova no es ajeno a la reutilización, reciclaje y recuperación de residuos comerciales e industriales. La empresa lleva 36 años recolectando y tratando materiales variados, incluidos metales, textiles, plásticos, caucho y madera, y cuenta con cinco sitios industriales en todo el país. La XR está procesando actualmente 15 toneladas de material por hora para cumplir con los requisitos del Grupo Renova. En Colombia, una trituradora UNTHA CR2000 está configurada para impulsar las operaciones de energía a partir de residuos (EfW) de Geofuturo, convirtiendo los residuos del país en combustible derivado de basura (RDF) para la industria del cemento. El equipo procesa aproximadamente 2.200 toneladas de materiales por mes en la nueva planta de EfW de la empresa – Geofuturo, en Cartagena. Geofuturo tiene como objetivo utilizar la CR2000 para demostrar la viabilidad del proyecto de producción de RDF, con la intención de instalar una trituradora UNTHA aún más grande en 2023 y así expandir aún más las operaciones. n Minsait and Ecoembes have committed to the implementation of blockchain technology in Spain, through the Circular Trust product. Circular Trust is designed to optimise the waste sorting, collection and recycling process, whilst reducing costs and environmental impact and increasing the transparency of the entire process. This system of distributed registries allows all agents involved in the process – public administrations, local authorities, operators, recyclers and other organisations – to access the system’s data and optimise information transactions. Since CircularTrust began operating in 2020, hundreds of daily transactions associated with the removal of waste from more than 90 sorting plants in Spain as well as the transfer of waste to over 70 approved recycling facilities have been recorded, with real-time monitoring of the entire process. During the first half of 2022, an average of 4,725 collection operations and around 18,000 monthly transactions were processed and immutably recorded in the blockchain network. As this project demonstrates, blockchain offers the possibility of ongoing enhancement of the recycling process, with greater control of information thanks to the creation of smart contracts, the generation of documentary evidence and automation of payments, etc. This technology not only results in greater transparency, but also in greater efficiency. n Brazil’s industrial waste specialist Renova Group has advanced its alternative fuel capabilities, in a state-of-the-art collaboration with industrial shredder manufacturer UNTHA Iberica. The family-owned business has commissioned a single step RDF (refuse derived fuel) production line, enabling it to transform waste into a renewable energy source, using only one shredding machine. An UNTHA XR30000C waste shredder now lies at the heart of the plant, producing a homogenous 50mm fuel for the cement industry. Renova Group is no stranger to the reuse, recycling and recovery of commercial and industrial ‘waste’. The business has been collecting and treating varied materials – including metals, textiles, plastics, rubber and wood – for 36 years, and has five industrial sites throughout the country. The XR is currently processing 15 tonnes of material per hour to meet the requirements of Renova Group. An UNTHA CR2000 shredder is set to drive forward Geofuturo’s energyfrom-waste (EfW) operations in Colombia, converting the country’s waste into refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for the cement industry.
