BELGICAST by TALIS is a global leader in premium valves. The company offers a wide range of products and particularly stands out for supplying the desalination market with highquality centric butterfly valves for the entire low pressure line, as well as check valves for both high and low pressures. The SHUQAIQ III plant represents the type of project where BELGICAST can provide added value to both the client, in this case ACCIONA Agua, and to the end user, Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC). The project forms part of the ‘7 year statement’ plan, whereby our client, ACCIONA AGUA, is working in partnership with SWPC. The project also reflects BELGICAST’S corporate responsibility values, due to its goal of bringing drinking water to all the citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. BELGICAST is privileged to have been chosen as a provider for this project, where governance criteria were taken into account when selecting suppliers, in accordance with the aforementioned plan. This project stands out for the sheer size of the plant and the number of valves to be supplied in a short space of time, with one of the requirements being the provision of quality materials of European origin. For this project, our challenge was to manufacture the largest high-pressure, dual-plate check valves with EPDM seals ever made. The check valves were designed with thicknesses adapted to a maximum working pressure of 100 bar, to be installed between ANSI 600 Lbs. flanges. The elastomeric seal was housed in a deeper than normal casing to withstand a continuous operating pressure of 76 bar and satisfactory housing watertightness and resistance were achieved. Coordination with ACCIONA Agua’s engineering department is crucial to guarantee the correct functioning of these valves and to ensure that the best implementation and installation practices are observed. It is vital to maintain recommended distances from pumps and installation elements, such as valves, reductions and elbows. For three years, Belgicast has been investing in separating the company’s project line, which is completely differentiated from the remainder of the market, and its distribution line. The goal is to improve processes and achieve customer satisfaction, not only in terms of product quality, but also in terms of the quality of documentation and service. Este proyecto destaca por la magnitud total de la planta y su cantidad de válvulas a suministrar en un espacio corto de tiempo y con una exigencia de materiales de calidad y con origen europeo. Para este proyecto se nos planteó el reto de fabricar las mayores válvulas de retención de doble plato para alta presión con cierre elástico que se han fabricado hasta el momento. Para ello se diseñó la retención con unos espesores adaptados para una presión máxima de trabajo de 100 bares, para ser instalada entre bridas ANSI 600 Lbs. y alojando la junta elástica en una cajera más profunda de lo normal para aguantar, sin desprenderse, una presión de funcionamiento continuo de 76 bares, los resultados de estanqueidad y resistencia de la carcasa fueron satisfactorios. Para el buen funcionamiento de estas válvulas la coordinación con el departamento de ingeniería de ACCIONA Agua es crucial para asegurar que se respetan las mejores prácticas de implantación e instalación ya que hay que mantener las distancias recomendadas, con respecto a la bomba y a elementos de instalación, como válvulas, reducciones o codos.” Belgicast desde hace apenas 3 años invirtió en dividir la línea de proyectos totalmente diferenciada del mercado de la distribución con el solo fin de mejorar los procesos y conseguir la satisfacción del cliente en materia de calidad de productos, pero también en la calidad de documentación y servicio.
