Destacan la finalización de la desaladora de Shuqaiq 3 en Arabia Saudí y la expansión del área de servicios. Almar Water Solutions, empresa líder en el desarrollo de infraestructuras de agua y parte de Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, se ha convertido en un socio estratégico para la industria del agua global, tras un 2021 lleno de proyectos e hitos conseguidos. Con un alto compromiso con la calidad, la innovación y la sostenibilidad, la compañía enfoca su actividad en dos áreas de negocio: desarrollo de proyectos y servicios. En ambas líneas de negocio, Almar Water Solutions ha crecido y alcanzado nuevos logros a lo largo del año pasado. Comenzando por desarrollo de proyectos, cabe destacar la finalización de la construcción de la planta desaladora de Shuqaiq 3, en la provincia de Jizán en Arabia Saudí. El proyecto, que fue adjudicado en 2019, cuenta con una capacidad nominal de 450.000 metros cúbicos al día y produce agua limpia y fresca para distintos usos: domésticos, agrícolas e industriales. Pese a la pandemia de la COVID-19, el proyecto ha cumplido prácticamente con el calendario y el programa financiero. Se trata de la primera planta de gran escala en la región con tecnología pura de ósmosis inversa y alta eficiencia energética, y permitirá suministrar hasta 150 Hm3 (gigalitros) al año de agua de alta calidad. En su construcción ha participado un equipo multidisciplinar de más de 2.000 personas y se ha alcanzado un importante hito en materia de seguridad y salud, al haberse superado los nueve millones de horas sin incidentes con baja. Tras el cumplimiento de todos los plazos, la planta fue inaugurada el pasado enero en una ceremonia organizada bajo el patrocinio de Su Alteza Real el Príncipe Mohammad Bin Nasser y por el ministerio saudí de medio ambiente, agua y agricultura de Arabia Saudí. El área de servicios también ha continuado con su expansión durante el 2021. With a firm commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability, the company focuses its activity on two business areas: project development and services. Almar Water Solutions has grown in both business areas and achieved new milestones over the past year. Starting with project development, a highlight was the completion of the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant in the province of Jizán in Saudi Arabia. The contract for the construction of the plant was awarded in 2019 and the facility has a nominal capacity of 450,000 cubic metres. It produces clean, fresh water for different domestic, agricultural and industrial uses. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was delivered on schedule and within the financial program. This is the first large-scale plant in the region to implement pure reverse osmosis technology and high energy efficiency, and it will supply up to 150 Hm3 (gigalitres) of high-quality water per year. A multidisciplinary team of more than 2,000 people participated in its construction, and an important milestone was achieved in terms of health and safety. Over nine million hours of work went into the project without any serious incidents. After meeting all deadlines, the plant was inaugurated last January in a ceremony organised under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad Bin Nasser and by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The services area continued to expand in 2021. The company doubled its presence in Latin America last June with the acquisition of a 50% stake in Chilean company Aguas y Riles. Founded in 2001, Aguas y Riles offers customised water treatment and transport solutions for mining and industrial applications. The objective of this acquisition was to grow both companies in the region and to strengthen the service area of Almar Water Solutions. Since then, several contracts have been secured for services, including operation and maintenance, transportation and specialised desalination, wastewater treatment and drinking water treatment services. Following this operation, Osmoflo SpA, acquired in 2019, became part of this new structure, thus creating a regional service platform in Latin America that covers all municipal and industrial water needs.
